You can't imagine how much angst and inconvenience I have caused someone by offering a used window for free. I should be punished. It seems I didn't remove the advert in time to prevent someone from responding to the advert after the first person responded. As there was a four day gap from when the ad was posted and the window picked up, I caused severe distress to those who applied for it but didn't get it. My only defense is that I wasn't 100% sure that FP would pick up window. This has been an issue in the past.
Rather than delete the emails from those who didn't get the window, I took a few minutes to respond to each saying it was taken. This was not enough for AT.
Hi, Thanks for letting me know. There is a way u can delete ads once the product is gone. You just go to My Kijiji and go to your email address and Kijiji password and go to EDIT and then delete. It saves both the buyer and seller alot of time that way!
My response:
Thanks, I am well aware of that. Didn't remove it until window was actually picked up. Not that I was concerned that those who emailed for a FREE item would have been inconvenienced more than writing a few words in an email. blows raspberry
Thank goodness for giving stuff away. I saved considerable time, effort and money. If I had taken them to the dump, I would have had to pay about half of what it cost me for one new window. This way, someone has a lovely patio door and a window to install in their home. Could have given it away 5 times. Might have been able to get some cash for it, but I really just wanted it gone.
The three new windows have been installed. Some picspam
Corner windows installed. Drywall next!
An example of how to do it and how NOT. The header - that's the fancy name for framing above a window or doorway, on the left is Wrong. The stud running to the side of the cross member should be under it, not to the side. As you can see it has shifted down due to the weight of the house. The one on the right is correct. The weight of the house is transmitted down along the stud because it is under the cross beam.
A glance at the amazing view afforded by the windows.
