I was trying out tile layouts this am. With having to bring firewood in during the winter- it's common for snow and ice to fall off the wheelbarrow- not so good for laminate-even if you do mop it up, sometimes it gets missed. So, I want the tile to run from the front door to the living room to the fireplace area. Currently, there is a an irregular area floor covered by tile, surrounding the woodstove. My plan is to make this more of a square with a 'river' of tile running to the doorway.
ETA- old floor will be pulled up before tile laid. New laminate, for the rest of the floor, is at the store- paid for - no room to keep it here.
After doing some reading, I realised that some sort of edge treatment was needed. Mosaic tiles seem to be the answer. Went shopping to nearby big town- needed some new work pants- now a size 12, and some other odds and ends. First store I went to for tiles- had exactly what I was looking for. Even better- instead of $12 a sheet-they were $1.99. I quizzed the clerk several times- as the price seemed wrong. Bought a box of them- can take back extras. Here are some pics of the tiles and the mosaic- good match I think. The plan-in my head is to have little runs of pebbles- varying widths of the mosaic running along the edges with random placement between the field tiles.
