Water fire in Providence this weekend was amazing. Absolutely wicked really. It was so powerful. The music booming out over the canals, pulsating through every being. The set list was perfect. Conveniently eclectic but not enough to get old. The beat penetrated through me. The chill of the air was perfectly keeping my cheeks cold. The way the music beat through my veins was so powerful. I felt all at once so in tune with my body, with my whole being. It was so ritualistic the way the torches were lit, the way the boats then traveled to the wood piled up above the water - and symbolically lit, one by one. It was so beautiful. So moving. Much more so than I ever thought it would be, especially with the closing of seasons, the beginning of the cold and the dark. The beginnings and the endings. Endings and beginnings… the ebb and flow of all life. It was wonderful experience, and I loved sharing it with Annie and her parents. It really was quite perfect. I still smell the smoke from the fires on my hair … funny how long that can last :)
