On the way to class I decided to print out my homework in the computer lounge; apparently the idea was not unique. Three guys decided to do the same thing, same homework for the same class. The interesting part was that each person gets a different set of questions when they open the homework assignment, but your name is not on it when it prints. It took a couple of minutes to sort out whose homework was whose. This may seem like a minor event, not worthy of a post, but small things like this often foreshadow fun days. Not to mention I got to meet new people.
Class was also different from the norm. Our TA had forgotten to e-mail us to tell us he wouldn’t be teaching class, so our class relocated to another TA’s section. Then two more did the same. All of the seats were taken, some people shared chairs, the stairs were crammed with students, and the room was basically bursting at the seams. All to listen to a TA lecture! The lecture was very good. Despite the TA looking like a frat boy; he was extremely intelligent and knew how to connect on our level. No one left the class until he released us which just goes to show how engrossed we were in his lecture.
That accounting lab was my first and last class of the day, so afterwards I ate a very light lunch and then went over to a friend’s house. We had made a deal that if he fixed my sandals I would fold his laundry. The jiffy rivets on the sandals kept popping out, and with two taps of a hammer they were as good as new. I now know how both real rivets and jiffy rivets work. Unfortunately it seems the semester will end before we get to work on making a breast plate out of hardened leather like we had talked about. Either way the afternoon was quite enjoyable, and I never did fold laundry. (I guess I still owe him.)
Dinner had been planned for 5 o’clock at Herwigs. On the way there I was lucky enough to find twenty dollars! Money doesn’t usually burn a hole in my pocket, but I owed Tom dinner, so I ended up giving the twenty to Herwigs. The group that ended up meeting for dinner was on the larger side, me, Tom, Kristin, Shaun, Kyle, Brandon, Tim, Joe, Ashley, Hillary, and Liz. Yes, 10 people. As you can imagine dinner was a blast, complete with fighting, rude jokes, glass swapping, and being harassed in German by the restaurant management.
After dinner the group split up a bit to get a movie, ice-cream, and access to a toilet. (Herwigs can make toilets an important commodity.) We then spent the rest of the daylight hours playing Frisbee. It was great! After Frisbee the group met up to watch Twilight with Rifftracks. I personally don’t think it was the best Rifftracks movie I have seen, but it was still a good ending to the day. All in all Friday was an amazing day spent with amazing friends.
