Actually, I'm a lot calmer than I look

You know, it's interesting that the normal state of affairs of Southern California in October is to be on fire. This is practically the anniversary of the Cedar Fire.

My house is as safe as most of Poway is, but I'm quite concerned for my close friends that live near RB and on Espola. The Family had been evacuated, and all kinds of schools are closed.

The Santa Ana winds are both causing the fires in many of these cases by knocking down power lines, and spurring them on with 80mph gusts. This is emphatically frustrating and no bueno.

The lights here keep flickering. I don't think that anything is on fire or otherwise compromised near here, but Garden Court is attempting to do maintenance. Stupid electrical issues.

Due to unrelated reasons, I have the rest of the day off work. I need to distract myself, so I think I'll sew here for now, others with sewing projects are welcome. If anyone is sewing elsewhere today, poke me?

Although, I have to say: I'm not really capable of a very high level of freak out right now-- this is how many times now in the last month that my cell phone has rung to tell me that something is wrong in Poway? Soon I'll have to take up some sort of superstitious/faith based protection ritual as a guard against such bad luck.

Lots of love to you and yours.
Be safe and happy thoughts, please, for everyone fighting the fires and threatened by them.

home, fire, wtf?, family
