while i'm at it....
I need to rant somewhere....
i'm getting SICK and tired of people who do not respond to important emails. emails that are prohibiting me from moving forward on a project.
(please note, i'm not talking about emails that i send to someone just to show them current progress on a picture...i'm talking about ones where i specifically NEED feedback to continue)
Project one - held up
i have two things to color for one guy. he's doing a mix-up of a couple characters, so the coloring job isn't cut and dry and he wants something particular. so rather then color BOTH of them and then get told they're wrong, i colored one, sent him a preview of it this weekend, asked for his feedback and SAID i would not color the other one until i got feedback for this one.
now, understandable, he's having a car issue.
he says - on a Sunday night (there are garages open then??) - looks great! I'll email you when i get back from having the car fixed.
implying that he needs to discuss some nit picky things. which means i will NOT touch the other one till i get that email. which I'm still waiting for.
Project two - held up
even worse, is this girl I'm working with. (different shift and dept then me) she wants some graphics for her website. a header and two matching buttons. she has very specific things she wants in them as well. things that are hard to make into small icons and still 'know' what they are. so I'm limited on WHAT i can do with them, right?
i send her a preview copy saying - this is a starting point, so we can figure out which direction to go in....what do you think? what do you like, what do you not like? that was a week and a half ago.
why this is a problem
First - i have a long to do list, and i would LIKE to knock some stuff off. these should have been simple to knock off - but nooooooo
and aside from the annoyance of that there is the fact that money this month is tight. because of the toy story tickets for Sunday. when i realized how tight it was going to be (i hadn't realized at first it was going to be THAT tight) i had counted on getting at least the payment for one of these projects before than, so i could afford gas, parking AND some souvenirs and a few necessary grocery objects. as it is, there's no way.
No prizes for you!.
and another thing that is ticking me off - i win very few competitions....and the ones i run, i try to make sure i get the prizes out in at least less than 2 months. i won 3rd place in a competition on DA last fall. a bunch of people 'donated' time to make art that we'd want - different levels for each tier obviously. there were like 6 or 7 people who 'donated' to the prize structure of the 3rd place person. i have received ONE piece of artwork and ONE journal feature.
and while the winners names were sent to the people who donate prizes, none of those contacted me. i had to figure out who was supposed to be donating and contact them. when i messaged them they were all - oh! i knew the contest was over. i figured you'd contact me. (never mind the fact that it would be easier for them to contact 3 people who were just announced than it is for me to hunt up a months and months old journal with the list of 7 people i needed to contact)
why does it feel like some of them were hoping that by doing it this way, they'd be forgotten?
and so i have contacted them. several times. before xmas and after. and i still haven't gotten any prizes. while I'm not looking to be greedy, its rather disappointing to be promised something and not get it!
