My Lovable Bad Animals

In wake of the more grumpy posts I've had recently, I thought I'd talk about the things that make me happy.

My adorable two bad animals. We lovinlgy refer to them as our bad animals - because they are full of mischief and trouble, but oh so adorable.

Minnie, aka Meow Mix, had surgery last week to end the crazy behavior and any further issues she might have. The awesome purple stitches come out tomorrow. She HATES the vet - it took them 15 minutes to get her out of her cage so we could take her home. We weren't allowed back there due to safety reglations, but she was still growling when they brought her up and the huge man who carried her in the box looked somewhat scared and very shocked that we were opening it up and talking to her and petting her. I explained that she REALLY hated the vet and she'd be just fine. Other than smelling of poop and being very scared and angry, she was thrilled to see her parents and calmed down and crawled into Mark's arms, where she stayed the entire drive home. She was purring by that night. Now we get to take her back...oh what fun. She spent the entire day perched on the window sill stalking the birds and bees outside - she had a blast. I had the window's open for the time in a while and I know she loved it!

Sergei is always up to no good. We had ribs for lunch on Sat. from Fresh Market. They are fantastic - highly recommended if you are near a store. We decided that since he didn't really beg (unlike Meow Mix-who tried to eat mine) we'd let him have a bone. What a horrible decision. He's had bones before, but apparently not this rich. He was sick not once, but three times. I caught him the first time on the bed, tried to throw him off, and he spayed all the music I'm annotating for my dumb dissertation - and he still hit the sheets. Normally, that would be it for him. But, while I'm cleaning that up, Mark hears him and tries to get him to the bathroom, he won't move, and it's everywhere again, and we make it to the bathroom by time three. So, then we have both dog and cat trying to clean it up. GROSS. It's everywhere - Mark can't deal with it and the dog just looks pathetic. How do you get mad at such a pathetic little creature? So he stunk and we thought it was his breath, so we've been feeding him "greenies", but he still stunk, so we wouldn't snuggle him, and he was sad. I realized that in all the moving (attemtping to throw him onto tile) he puked on himself. So into the bath it was. AHHHH, he smells SO much better now, and he's cuter, too.

Tonight I had Sergei on the end of the bed, being cute, and Minnie in the window looking for things to stalk, when Terg starts wagging his tail. POUNCE. Minnie got it! It's one of their favorite games! They play nicely most of the time - he got mean once last week, but normally it's when she gets a little too much in his space (like standing on him). I'm so happy we picked a kitten for us and him to play with - my heart just swells with happiness when they are playing - thats what I wanted - and she is SO much less work than a puppy! My new couch doesn't quite agree or the poker table that is pretty much destroyed, but she is cute, and snuggles when she wants to, and I'll take that for now.
