dodgeball bullshit
k so i saw headlines about schools banning dodgeball cause it's "potentially dangerous" and "leaves out the slower, less agile kids, picking on them"... really? let's analyze other sports:
basketball: slower people can't run, less agile people can't shoot. they're left out... injury threat? HIGH... youc an fall on your face, blow out your knee, break your ankle coming down wrong, full speed collisions... injuries? WORSE than dodgeball
baseball: slower people can't run, less agile can't hit or catch or field, they are left out. injury threat: SERIOUS... ever get hit by a line drive in the HEAD? that's an instant concussion, if not death. once a kid ran into my hip by accident, almost passed out from no air cause he couldn't breathe after it... colliding w/ the catch, diving and landing wrong. injuries: WORSE than dodgeball
swimming: slower people can't go as fast in laps, less agile people are HUMILATED by swimming in the shallow end,c an't play the water sports: injury threat: medium... slip and fall on the water (i have a scar), DROWNING, landing wrong on a diving board. injuries: WORSE than dodgeball
football: slower people can't run, less agile peopel can't catch, throw, block, etc. injury threat: HIGH... tackle to the head, face mask pulls, landing on your neck in a tackle (instant concussion- many have been paralyzed)... injuries: WORSE than dodgeball
ultimate frisbee: slow people can't run, less agile people can't catch or throw or do defense. injury threat: VERY high... i've seen someone lose consciousness for 15 minutes and convulse because they were at the bottom of a pile of people all jumping for the disc... full spped head collisions, bad landings (i've broken a rib, destroyed my knee)... injuries: WORSE than dodgeball
and it keeps going on... why dodgeball, and not the REALLY dangerous sports? why anything? your kid can trip and land headfirst on a corner on a sidewalk and split their head open and die... WALKING TO SCHOOL. no matter what you do, you have a chance of injury
