Hi all!
We are all in somber spirits, but snug as bugs in a rug in good old Newnan, Georgia (and trust me, it's just as glamorous as it sounds). We're staying at my favorite hotel, LaQuinta, and it's new and pet friendly and not too expensive, so we're safe and sound, and ready to stay here as long as we need to. We were watching the weather last night when the hurricane went (in 2.5 hours at 2 AM our time) from 115 miles per hour to 145 miles per hour, then we wake up this morning just in time to see it go up to 175. 175 miles per hour is a 125 mile-wide F3 tornado. I cannot even imagine the scariness of that. My heart goes out to those people who are not able to leave the city, and I think it was a great move for Mayor Nagin to call for a mandatory evacuation, even though it was the first time in history. I want you to know that I love all you guys, and I'm glad that we will all be safe and sound when this hurricane changes the geography of Louisiana and New Orleans forever. We just heard on the radio that they are EXPECTING 25 feet of water in downtown New Orleans. 25 FEET. Everything I own is there, my house is there, but we're safe and Stewey's safe and you guys are safe so that's all that matters.
