Check out www.cafepress.com/tulane for some pretty kickass NOLA gear. My favorite is (Front)Where is Moses When you need him? (Back) Part the Seas and Bring me Back to Tulane!
So I'm sitting in Duke's new library, which I have to admit is pretty kickass. It's even better than Loyola's library, which, if you've ever been there, is really nice. I'm sitting here between classes (Greek Art and Archeology at 1:30), just wasting my time away. I thought I would make a little list to get my thoughts in order.
Things I like here:
50 minute classes
Storage space in our apartment (not that there's anything left to store)
1.5 bathrooms (that .5 makes a huge difference)
400 thread count sheets
Having teachers that you see on the History channel and read about in books
Being close to home and close to my sister
Being close to LOTS of shopping (not that I have any money)
No roaches! Yay! (though we do have lots of other bugs)
Things I miss about NO:
$5 movies
A (somewhat) safe neighborhood
Our House
The walls of our house
Our 100 year old wood floors
Our oversized windows
Our huge cast-iron bathtub
Tulane's campus
200 year-old Willow trees
The Audubon Zoo
Tutoring at Boys Hope/Girls Hope
Circle K meetings
Service projects
A good class schedule (classes on Tues/Thurs only!)
Cafe DuMonde
BABYLON
Frescos
Furniture that matches and isn't plaid
My birthday party
Raising Canes
Demetrius
The Quarter
Laying in the Grass
My Spanish teachers
YOU GUYS!
So, as you have undoubtedly already read, there was a little soiree at my house this weekend. There was a lot of nudity involved (due to a nasty game of "Strip Scattegories"), and there is photo evidence, but I will spare you. Needless to say, Kea and I were the only ones who didn't shed our undergarments . . .
Other than that, not much is happening lately. We're thinking of taking ballroom dancing lessons, since neither one of us knows how to dance. I'm going home for my dad's 60th birthday next weekend, so that should be fun. Lots of drunk old people, yay!
And speaking of my dad, he is currently on his way to NOLA to salvage what he can of our stuff. We think some of our stuff is okay, but the 4 feet of water in our house pretty much destroyed our house, furniture, books, etc. They are going to clean it out so the walls can be stripped out (if they are repairable) soon, hopefully. If the estimate looks bad, they will just have to bulldoze it. If anyone else is looking for housing next semester and wants to look together, let me know.
I am so sad about that house; I really loved it. It had so much charm and personality. I think it might be what I miss most about NOLA when I return.
Sorry for the rambling, that's just the kind of mood I'm in today. I love you guys, and I hope we will all see each other soon!
