*Sigh*

So it appears that I am now, officially . . . a Dukie.

That's right, I have enrolled as a Duke visiting student for the semester, and I even have the ID card to prove it. Thanks to an incredibly hectic day on Friday, I have classes, I know where they are, I have a Duke ID, I know where the student union is, and I have a parking permit. I think I may even know where to park! The freaking campus is enormous, with an East, West and Central Campus. (For those of you who care, East is the Freshman Campus, as well as the Med School and Hospital, West is the normal campus, the chapel and the Union, and Central is where the dorms and crap are.) You have to take a fucking bus around campus, so that should be fun and not at all complicated or confusing.

We also have a house to live in, and it seems like it is in a safe neighborhood (though that is hard to come by in Durham, the armpit of North Carolina), and it is pet-friendly, so that is good. It is, however, unfurnished, so we are scrambling around trying to find furnishings and other little piddly things to fill it with. Tomorrow promises to be the most exhausting day of my life. I cannot wait to have a routine-I crave some normalcy. I miss Tulane and New Orleans.

However, I have to say that Duke (to their credit) has been wonderful about everything. All the people we met were super nice, and they gave us:

1-Free Tuition
2-Free room and board (though we didn't take it)
3-A Free Parking Pass
4-Free Books for our classes
5-A Free $250 voucher for school supplies!

So, however much I despise Duke, I am really glad to have this opportunity for a semester. No more. I will definitely be heading back down South in January (and hopefully will still have a house to live in when I get there). I totally miss you guys, and I promise to update on my birthday at a later date (when the details start coming back to me . . . ;)

Oh, and if you need me, you can email me at jennifer.wells@duke.edu.

Love!
