IT’S SPECIAL WEEK (I DON’T KNOW WHAT EXACTLY THAT MEANS BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THEY HAVE ONE ALMOST EVERY MONTH…WHERE THEY DO SOMETHING…SPECIAL, HAHAHA) AND TONIGHT/THAT NIGHT IT WAS GUESTS FROM NEWS.
Yoko and Hina introduces Koyama and Shige by talking about how important ratings are (cause it’s special week yo) and how tonight’s guests were invited to boost ratings. Shige (I think) sniggers in the back and Koyama says how it’s going to be hard for them now (because of the pressure). They introduce themselves and…

They talk a bit about how Shige’s in the law department in university and how much he enjoys it. And for some reason, Yoko brings up how his brother has to repeat a year ( “My younger brother, happily…has to repeat the year, unfortunately” and [cause he way he said it sounds like it would be good news] they all clap. HAHAHA). More talk by Yoko about how when he graduated from middle school, he was thinking about going on to high school and asked his mom but she told him “No! Go work!”
Hina : That’s a bit surprising…but same as usual, the Yokoyama family never ceases to amaze.
Yoko : We (my family) didn’t have money at that time.
# 2 - singer
Yoko talks about how to him, Johnnys = professional job. That people who want to sing and act go to Johnnys, and probably not people who want to make music. So when magazines ask him does he prefer to act or sing, he finds it hard to answer and says instead he likes being a Johnny. Because if you’re in Johnnys, they’ll let you do all kinds of jobs. And he restates that he really likes the job of being a Johnny.

They don’t really know what to say until Yoko comments that boys’ first crush are usually their preschool/kindergarten teachers. Thennnn, it veers off to what clothes they like girls to wear, started by Koyama.

Apparently, he likes it when they’re loose and the girl’s not wearing anything underneath. Instead, Yoko has thought about this, when he introduces his girlfriend to his friends and she goes off to the washroom, he wants his friends to tell him what a cute girl he has.

Tonight’s project : You know how in Dragon Ball, the point of the thing was to find these seven orange balls with 1-7 number of stars on them, and when you get them all you’re granted a wish? Well, that’s similar to what they did but not. They had seven balls with stars on them:

Shige’s quite good friends with Hiraoka Yuuta (the guy from Swing Girls and Tatta Hitostu no Koi…and he’s going to be in that new show with NEWS’ Yamashita in April). They become friends when Shige filmed that mystery drama special Kakure Karakuri back in September, which Yoko bullshits that he totally watched. Apparently, Hiraoka Yuuta is very good at playing the guitar.
Yoko : Is he or Yasu better? << I SWEAR YOKO LOVES YASU OH SO VERY MUCH CONSIDERING HOW OFTEN HE THROWS HIS NAME OUT ON THE SHOW, BUT MAYBE I JUST NOTICE IT MORE CAUSE I LOVE YASU
Hina : Hahahaha, what kind of judging criteria is that?
Yoko then asks Koyama the same question : He’s friends with Oguri Shun. They met at a celebrity party for a name brand watch. Yoko says “party?” in the most hilarious way “par-tiiiiiiiiii” with the tiiii part really high and stretched out, actually he sounds a bit amazed at this whole meeting-OguriShun-at-a-watch-party thing, especially the watch-party part which he calls “very famous celebrity-like.”

Shige says that Massu started crying immediately and how just cried and cried and couldn’t see anything. It seems that Yoko is going to their concert in Osaka on 3.10, and he asks Koyama if he could sing with them if he goes and then talks/sings the beginning of “Boom Boom Power.”
3) NEWS new single
Yoko messes with them and asks them to sing a bit from their new song. He lets them off the hook and starts talking about how when “Irohabushi” come out, he and Hina went to Karaoke with the Recommen staff and it got awkward/embarrassing when they sang that song because Subaru pretty much sings the whole thing. Shige says that because they have a lot of people in NEWS he can’t sing their songs at Karaoke by himself. Hina points out that it’s not that bad, cause Kanjani’s songs have talking parts in the middle and that’s a lot harder to do by one person. << HEH.
YesNo Dictionary = do you have a boyfriend who’s very strict/mean to his juniors? (Yoko adds Kansai juniors say that Hina is very strict with him but he’s very nice to the Tokyo ones. Hina : I’ve never heard that before! They’ve never said that!).
One caller says that she went to the NEWS concert and the best part was that Koyama and Shige’s duet. Yoko laments that when he asks people what the best part of their (Kanjani’s) concert is, they all say the MC. Koyama+Shige laugh their heads off. << So not true! Another caller thought the highlight of the NEWS concert was the talk about Shige looking the word “hostess (not the word hostess but the Japanese word for it that was used a long time ago and not that often now)” in his electronic dictionary during the MC. Apparently, Ryo was looking at Shige’s electronic dictionary’s history and saw that he looked up the word and then told everyone during the NEWS concert. << Haahahahahahahah, oh Ryo.

8 Letter Idiom = I knew I left something out during the introduction post. There’s another segment where listeners write in an eight-syllable phrase based on a theme they give the week before, and then they pick their favourite and that listener wins a prize.
Tonight’s theme was “wise/clever/smart” and a listener writes in “can do mental arithmetic”
Yoko : Try watching “24”! That’s doing mental arithmetic! < Anyway, they read a couple more and Yoko ties it all back to “24” and they all laugh at him some more.
Another one was about pets and it reminded Yoko of…apparently an offer came for him to appear on a TV show related to animals (like Aiba’s maybe?!) because some producer has heard about Yoko and his dog. He doesn’t say when or if he accepted or not…

GAH! Another thing I forgot, the first two hours of Recommen are only listenable from certain parts of the country, while the last hour can be heard everywhere. So in the last hour (technically half an hour because Tsubasa’s show’s at 12:00-12:30), repeat some of the opening talk, catch new listeners up on the main project, do some more of that, make fun of Ktaro if they have time, and end the show.

It’s not something recent, but Yoko talked about his near-death experience. When he was around 7, during a game of hide-and-seek with his friends, Yoko was chased up to the top of this factory and fell off the roof as he was running. Luckily he fell on top of a bunch of cardboard boxes. But it was nearneardeath cause there was an iron pipe sticking out 10cm away from the boxes.

They talk a bit about how Shige’s in the law department in university and how much he enjoys it. And for some reason, Yoko brings up how his brother has to repeat a year ( “My younger brother, happily…has to repeat the year, unfortunately” and [cause he way he said it sounds like it would be good news] they all clap. HAHAHA). More talk by Yoko about how when he graduated from middle school, he was thinking about going on to high school and asked his mom but she told him “No! Go work!”
Hina : That’s a bit surprising…but same as usual, the Yokoyama family never ceases to amaze.
Yoko : We (my family) didn’t have money at that time.
# 2 - singer
Yoko talks about how to him, Johnnys = professional job. That people who want to sing and act go to Johnnys, and probably not people who want to make music. So when magazines ask him does he prefer to act or sing, he finds it hard to answer and says instead he likes being a Johnny. Because if you’re in Johnnys, they’ll let you do all kinds of jobs. And he restates that he really likes the job of being a Johnny.
Hina : (That answer was) 100 points!
# 1 - preschool/kindergarten teacher
They don’t really know what to say until Yoko comments that boys’ first crush are usually their preschool/kindergarten teachers. Thennnn, it veers off to what clothes they like girls to wear, started by Koyama.
Koyama : Don’t you think the trainers=sweatshirts kindergarten teachers wear are nice?
All : Hahahahhahaah, what?/that’s a bit odd.
Koyama : Embarrassed laugh.
Yoko : I really really really like it when girls wear tight t-shirts.
They all laugh and say “tight t-shirts” a bunch of times.
Hina : What about Shige? Which do you like better?

They talk about how there probably aren’t any situations like that except in your delusions/imaginations and a bit about their own delusions/imaginations until Yoko brings it back to…of course, what else but…

Apparently, he likes it when they’re loose and the girl’s not wearing anything underneath. And although Yoko really really really likes girls wearing tight t-shirts and miniskirts, that’s not what he wants in a girlfriend because he doesn’t want people looking at her. Instead, Yoko has thought about this, when he introduces his girlfriend to his friends and she goes off to the washroom, he wants his friends to tell him what a cute girl he has.
Hina : We’re talking about what you dream huh?
Yoko : It’s my ideal situation.

Tonight’s project : You know how in Dragon Ball, the point of the thing was to find these seven orange balls with 1-7 number of stars on them, and when you get them all you’re granted a wish? Well, that’s similar to what they did but not. They had seven balls with stars on them:

Shige’s quite good friends with Hiraoka Yuuta (the guy from Swing Girls and Tatta Hitostu no Koi…and he’s going to be in that new show with NEWS’ Yamashita in April). They become friends when Shige filmed that mystery drama special Kakure Karakuri back in September, which Yoko bullshits that he totally watched. Apparently, Hiraoka Yuuta is very good at playing the guitar.

Yoko says “party?” in the most hilarious way “par-tiiiiiiiiii” with the tiiii part really high and stretched out, actually he sounds a bit amazed at this whole meeting-OguriShun-at-a-watch-party thing, especially the watch-party part which he calls “very famous celebrity-like.”

1) Kanjani’s Dome Concert
Yoko+Hina talk about how big the place is.
2) NEWS Concert has started
Shige says that Massu started crying immediately and how just cried and cried and couldn’t see anything. It seems that Yoko is going to their concert in Osaka on 3.10, and he asks Koyama if he could sing with them if he goes and then talks/sings the beginning of “Boom Boom Power.”
3) NEWS new single
Yoko messes with them and asks them to sing a bit from their new song. He lets them off the hook and starts talking about how when “Irohabushi” come out, he and Hina went to Karaoke with the Recommen staff and it got awkward/embarrassing when they sang that song because Subaru pretty much sings the whole thing. Shige says that because they have a lot of people in NEWS he can’t sing their songs at Karaoke by himself. Hina points out that it’s not that bad, cause Kanjani’s songs have talking parts in the middle and that’s a lot harder to do by one person. << HEH.
YesNo Dictionary = do you have a boyfriend who’s very strict/mean to his juniors? (Yoko adds Kansai juniors say that Hina is very strict with him but he’s very nice to the Tokyo ones. Hina : I’ve never heard that before! They’ve never said that!).
One caller says that she went to the NEWS concert and the best part was that Koyama and Shige’s duet. Yoko laments that when he asks people what the best part of their (Kanjani’s) concert is, they all say the MC. Koyama+Shige laugh their heads off. << So not true! Right at the beginning of their second concert, all the callers thought Yoko’s solo was great and kept wanting to talk about it but Yoko had to shut them up to not ruin it for the people who haven’t seen them yet. So they just talked about the MC, heh.

Another caller thought the highlight of the NEWS concert was the talk about Shige looking the word “hostess (not the word hostess but the Japanese word for it that was used a long time ago and not that often now)” in his electronic dictionary during the MC. Apparently, Ryo was looking at Shige’s electronic dictionary’s history and saw that he looked up the word and then told everyone during the NEWS concert. << Haahahahahahahah, oh Ryo.
Yoko : Wha? What is it?
Shige : Ah, it was used in the Edo period to mean a woman who worked in the sex industry.

8 Letter Idiom = I knew I left something out during the introduction post. There’s another segment where listeners write in an eight-syllable phrase based on a theme they give the week before, and then they pick their favourite and that listener wins a prize.
Tonight’s theme was “wise/clever/smart” and a listener writes in “can do mental arithmetic”
Yoko : Try watching “24”! That’s doing mental arithmetic! < Anyway, they read a couple more and Yoko ties it all back to “24” and they all laugh at him some more.
Another one was about pets and it reminded Yoko of…apparently an offer came for him to appear on a TV show related to animals (like Aiba’s maybe?!) because some producer has heard about Yoko and his dog. He doesn’t say when or if he accepted or not…
Hina : Why didn’t you say this earlier (during TEPPEN Quiz when the question was about animals)?
Yoko : I was thinking more about Jack Bauer << Again, don’t understand.
GAH! Another thing I forgot, the first two hours of Recommen are only listenable from certain parts of the country, while the last hour can be heard everywhere. So in the last hour (technically half an hour because Tsubasa’s show’s at 12:00-12:30), repeat some of the opening talk, catch new listeners up on the main project, do some more of that, make fun of Ktaro if they have time, and end the show.

It’s not something recent, but Yoko talked about his near-death experience. When he was around 7, during a game of hide-and-seek with his friends, Yoko was chased up to the top of this factory and fell off the roof as he was running. Luckily he fell on top of a bunch of cardboard boxes. But it was nearneardeath cause there was an iron pipe sticking out 10cm away from the boxes.
All : Wowww…
Yoko : I have tons more stories of stupid stuff I did in school… << he sounds proud
