I was wondering if the flashing was lightning.
You'll love the walking foot attachment! It makes quilting so much friendlier. I have honestly never heard of the other attachment but it sounds very useful.
You find the most beautiful fabrics. That poppy fabric is gorgeous!

Some of the flashing was lightning, some of it was the webcam adjusting itself (it's kind of annoying for that). It kind of drove me nuts, but I didn't want to redo the video :D

The other foot is sometimes called a free motion foot or an embroidery foot rather than a darning foot. Basically it just opens up your line of sight so you can see what you're doing. Usually for that one you drop the feed dogs and then you can move the fabric any which way you like. I'm a little scared to try using it, but I'm definitely going to try it out with scrap fabric and/or ugly fabric before trying it on anything I like or care about :D

I lurk around too many fabric stores online, which is how I find such great stuff :D The poppy stuff is wonderful, isn't it?

The poppy stuff is fantastic! It's my favorite flower. I have beautiful pictures of my poppys from earlier this summer that look very much like the fabric on the quilt top you made. I'll try to remember to post a picture for you sometime.

Okay, free motion foot I've heard of. I think I would be too scared to try it as well!

Love, LOve, LOVE Tufted Tweets and the red kitchen items!!! The tapes are really cute. They might make a cute tote bag or accent pillow.
I absolutely adore novelty fabrics. The orange poppies are just gorgeous. Glad you got more than you thought you did! Hope the rain fell for you. Have a good one.

It's been a rainy summer, but we keep getting teased with the idea of a really good thunder storm without ever getting the reality. It was just a tease again yesterday :D

I was thinking about a tote bag for the tape fabric - I've got a yard of it, so it should be enough to do something like that. We'll see though. I might just sit on a while in case something better comes to mind.

I bought the mixtape fabric here, which is sold out already (they've got it on reorder though). I did a quick check at etsy and found it here. (Don't know if that link will work...)

I basically use the same foot for everything, all the time, but it doesn't really work that well for quilting, so I thought it was probably time to upgrade to a foot designed for quilting. I kind of want to buy a newer, better sewing machine, but I thought I should probably learn how to use the one I've got properly before I drop four times as much money on something nicer :D

Well, once you have the mat and rotary cutter out, you really should cut more than one thing.....GREAT excuse for staring a new project.

I'm so excited about your new feet. I love my darning/free-motion foot AND my walking foot. Both very handy little gadgets.

I think the perfect project is going to come along for your mix-tape fabric. Love the red poppies.

Red is my favorite. At our farm, all of the appliances and accessories in my kitchen are red ---- yes, a red KitchenAid mixer. That fabric is WONDERFUL! You could make covers for all of your appliances with it. If I weren't sworn off of new projects (who are we really kidding here?) I would get some and start something.

Thanks for sharing your new stuff!

Have a great week.

Mary

KitchenAid, that's the brand I was searching for and didn't come up with :D My sister has been saving points at this one particular store with the goal of a red kitchenaid mixer in mind, but I'm sure they keep bumping up the number of points needed because she never seems to get any closer to getting it. I don't know why she wants it, anyway, because she hates cooking and doesn't bake. I think it's the red that attracts her. Anyway, yeah. It's fun fabric :D

I haven't tried out either of the new feet yet for my machine, but soon enough. I need to get a couple things finished first, and then I'll play with them a bit. I'm most nervous about the free motion bit, but I shouldn't put myself off without even trying it.

Yay yay yay, I can hear this week. It must be a speaker issue I'm having. :D

I loooove the mixtape fabric. So pretty. And the mixer fabric is just fantastical. I have to show it to my sister Laci, she'll adore it!

I recorded it a little differently this week too (lifting the laptop off the table onto a box) which might have brought the computer's microphone a little closer to me. Anyway, I'm glad it worked better for you :D
