[Click.
Shortly thereafter, there is a voice behind him.]
Hello, Remy.
[Kusanagi is wearing an entirely nondescript outfit of black slacks and a tank top.]
Reply
Hello miss...Kusanagi, was it? It's nice to finally meet you.
[He extends his hand forward for a handshake.]

[The Major doesn't smile back, but her voice is...well, polite and not unfriendly. She accepts his shake with a firm grip. Her hand feels as human as anyone's.]
You might as well call me Motoko, though. The rank's meaningless here.

I'll stay formal, Major. Unless we become good friends, you know? Then I'll call you Motoko. That said, what can I get for you?

[Was that a joke? Hard to tell when she's so deadpan all the time.]
What do you have for single malts?
...Or a double shot of whatever vodka you've got in the well. I could go either way tonight.
[That is almost certainly a joke. She's smirking a very little bit.]
Reply
[He smiles as he grabs the bottle and pours the double shot as requested.]
Completely odorless, goes down smooth and doesn't burn. I'm not one for vodka, really, but I like this one.
[He slides her drink forward]
Reply
[She salutes him with the glass and knocks back the shot like a pro.]
Mmm. That is good. Charge it to my room.
[That was definitely a joke.
She pushes the glass back towards him in the universal signal for a refill.]

As you wish, Major. I'll keep your tab open until you check out.
[Ahahaha jokes.]
Are you enjoying yourself on board?
Reply
Frankly, no. The ship's not equipped to have cyborgs aboard.
[She demonstrates by placing a hand on a barstool and leaning. The stool begins to creak before she's put anything close to most of her weight on it.]
I haven't sat on a chair in two weeks.

[Ah yeah! That's what Batou was, wasn't it?]
So you have an artificial body like Batou, yeah?
Reply
[She takes her second shot while waiting for his answer.]
Reply
[He shrugs before he leans on the counter]
We got along.
Reply
[It erased all of his tactical knowledge of the ship.]
It's one of the risks of cyberization.
[She shrugs ever so slightly and rolls her empty glass in her fingers. No point in telling Whitecastle that if Batou had considered him a friend, he'd have buffered those memories.]
Reply
[He sighs and runs his hand through his hair]
You know him well, Major?
