[Kate had been quiet for some time, more so after the Halloween party and the revelations therin. Aspects of what she had come to believe had proved to be true, but others were grosely bigger than she suspected. Her trust had been tried. Worse, she no longer thought everyone deserved redemption. She thought of Kage, who once told her that he was beyond redemption. To Kate, that meant he wasn't even trying.]
[She had grown up believing the best in people. When people called her naive to think so, she steeled herself and continued. But this had shattered her world view. There were irredemebly evil people in the world, in the universe, and she had met them. She had liked and respected one of them; she had briefly had a crush on one of them!]
[And now Kate found herself amongst the luggage on deck 12, screaming her lungs out. She was throwing luggage everywhere, smoke pouring out of her hands from the hate-fueled magic she was barely able to contain.]
