Balad 3: Can't do this on my own

Aug 25, 2010 20:48

There are other fire-mages on board, aren't there? I ... I need a teacher. My ... plan wasn't working ...

[She sounded quite tired, and very frustrated.]

Miss Kate, are you all right?

[Torin can't offer to help with the fire magic or the training, but she can do this at least.]

Yeah ... just ... I'm tired of being a spectator. I can't talk bad about people doing bad if I'm not going to stand up for what's right myself.

I commend your bravery. It takes a lot to stand up for what one believes in.

[She means it, too.]

I know you are more a mage than a fighter... but if you've ever any interest in learning to defend yourself physically, at least, I can help you with that.

Sure ... I'd like to try that. Could be fun, right?

And if you ever run out of magic, you'll at least be able to stun them long enough to get away. Or call for help!

[See? Useful~]

Never know ... on my world, strength of muscle comes from fire as well ...

So.. if one was skilled in fire magic, they'd also be strong?

[Torin isn't quite getting it, methinks.]

Sometimes, it depends on how you channel it. You see, each of the elements has ties to our bodies and minds ... at least that's how things work on my world. Air makes you fast and perceptive. Earth makes you tough and knowledgable. Water makes you adaptable and cunning. Fire ... it helps you exert your will both physically and mentally.

I ... I'm not very strong. Most people channel each element in one or the other way. So my magic ... it was easier to channel it into Enchantment than anything else ...

[She blinks and then giggles lightly.]

Sorry ... that was too much?

No, not too much. It's actually very informative.

[She makes a small noise.]

Something like an alignment of chakras, then? And that makes perfect sense, in your case, to have gone for a mental rather than physical approach. A smart mind usually wins over brawn any day.

Still, knowing where to hit to disable someone long enough to get away is a good skill as well, and it doesn't require immense strength.

Yes, chakras! Exactly. I'm a ... fire sorcerer. They say it's because my fire chakra consumed my water chakra ... now it is enlarged and compensates for both ...

And I'd like to know that. It would at least be good exercise. And with magic being hard to do here, some training would be great.
