The song was very similar in sound to "Amazing Grace", but it had its own words which she was not singing. When she finally stopped playing, she set the instrument down before picking up the com again.]We've ( Read more... )

[Remy doesn't hold any belief in an afterlife. When someone's gone, they're gone. But that's not to say he doesn't remember and miss his friends.]

That's a lovely gesture, miss Kate.

Just that he wu ... is a friend and he saved your life. What else?

[Remy sighs]

He's a best friend. He saved my life and took me in without precondition. He shouldn't have. After what my family did...to his in particular and his vows...he should have killed me. We got along right away. He's kind, gentle and I miss him more than anything.

That means he must be a great person, and very perceptive at that. He saw something in you ...

[Just like I did.]

He was. Extremely perceptive. Between him and Red, well, you couldn't get anything by them. Only thing he ever told me he saw in me was that I was different.

Forgive me if this is a difficult conversation, Kate.

I know, sorry.

[I was just complimenting you ...]

Being different from your family must have been a good thing, from what you've told me.

That's how most stories go. The right path isn't the easy one. That's why some people do the wrong thing.

Did Lucas help you to decide what to do?

Yeah. Yeah, he did. When I learned what happened to his family, I wanted him to get the revenge he wanted and he helped to keep me doing things the right way for the right reasons.

[Revenge was a slippery slope.]

Is that what you did? Did you two succeed?

No. World got destroyed and I ended up on a cruise ship.

I mean at what point did you last remember ...

Oh, definitely. It was going wonderfully, I felt.

Well, then at least he had good times with you.

[And of course, there was always a chance he could show up again; but Kate wouldn't give hope with such a little chance like that.]
