Just that he wu ... is a friend and he saved your life. What else?

He's a best friend. He saved my life and took me in without precondition. He shouldn't have. After what my family did...to his in particular and his vows...he should have killed me. We got along right away. He's kind, gentle and I miss him more than anything.

That means he must be a great person, and very perceptive at that. He saw something in you ...

He was. Extremely perceptive. Between him and Red, well, you couldn't get anything by them. Only thing he ever told me he saw in me was that I was different.

Forgive me if this is a difficult conversation, Kate.

Being different from your family must have been a good thing, from what you've told me.

I suppose so. In the long run anyway. It's a much harder path, but I like to think I've gained from it.

That's how most stories go. The right path isn't the easy one. That's why some people do the wrong thing.

Did Lucas help you to decide what to do?

Yeah. Yeah, he did. When I learned what happened to his family, I wanted him to get the revenge he wanted and he helped to keep me doing things the right way for the right reasons.

[Revenge was a slippery slope.]

Is that what you did? Did you two succeed?

No. World got destroyed and I ended up on a cruise ship.

I mean at what point did you last remember ...

Oh, definitely. It was going wonderfully, I felt.
