Snippets of my boring life

I have been taking long swims nowadays, so much so my arms start to ache and my muscle said - stop right now or you are gonna regret the next few days.

I stopped at 36 laps today. Not too bad I think. I am aiming for 50s next week.

It was a productive day; I finished an economic essay which I had no idea about and I finished the smoking article.

Me writing for HPB must have been the greatest irony ever: I write to persuade people to stop smoking, drinking and substance abuse.

But I also write to persuade people to get physically active (simple "exercise" but HPB is against that word). And I think I have been doing quite well in setting a good example.

A rather violent week; failed attempt at correcting a faux pas, all the debauchery, dealing with post-debauchery state, the numerous deadlines etc.

It has been tiring. But won't die lah. Every thing that happened made me learn something new about myself.

Anyway, recently, a bird flew into my sister's room in Sengkang and refused to go out. My father just put it in a cage and I conveniently call it Ah Jeow.

And Ah Meow, the cat, who has already grown very close to my dad due to my absence at home, start to get very jealous when my dad feeds the bird or show affection to the bird.

Ah Meow would follow my dad closely and rub himself against my dad's leg to draw his attention. Perhaps jealousy isn't an emotion or behaviour exclusive to human beings only.

Jealousy may be something natural or instinctive, but that's not to say that it should be encouraged. I find this little observation helped in making my day better.

Just let jealousy die away, or be consumed by it.

On a totally different note, I was doing groceries at Fairprice today when I came over the baby biscuits. And it was an impulsive buy. Boy, the biscuits are damn hard man.

Another sort-of impulsive buy, tickets to Java in January 2009. Will be visiting Jakarta (briefly), Borobodur and Yogjakarta. I have gotten use to the luxury of long trips without a fixed return date, this trip will be a rather short and packed on in comparison, slightly less than a week.

If you are thinking I am being ostentatious by going for holiday again, it is because NUS has been very nice to refund the school fee for this semester, which I didn't complete. By right they need not do that since I withdrew rather late. This is a very nice gesture that I will remember for a long long time.

I am salivating already at the thought of a possible trip to Hong Kong coming March.

Time to visit my friends.
