Kaddish

"Yitgadal v'yitkadash sh'mei rabah..." chanted the rabbi as the books were ceremoniously deposited in the vault among the cemetery. The service was brief, and in hebrew, words one of the observers hadn't used in years.

"So, do you want to tell me why I'm helping bury blank books?"

"Well, Kitty, I thought they needed respect, after I drained them of their magic. I couldn’t have done this without you," the redheaded wicca said, smiling.

"Who else but a mutant would know a rabbi who buries empty magic tomes?"

"I wanted to bury this part of my life. The bad witch."

A/N: I saw the topic for this week’s challenge, and this popped into my mind. I’m not really sure the jewish custom of burying books that contain the name of God really counts as a superstition. It’s steeped in the idea that you bring bad luck if you destroy the name of God. And since Giles' collection contained information on gods and demons, it just made sense to me.
