Title: Three Truths
Word Count: 300 (Word claims 303, but only because it insists on counting the numbers as words, which seemed silly.)
Fandom: BtVS/Star Trek: TNG
Challenge: #111 - Three Truths
Disclaimer: I didn't create the characters, I'm just playing with them.

1. Buffy wasn’t happy with the situation. She didn’t like that she was in the future, on a starship, with a crew that definitely didn’t suffer from Sunnydale syndrome. She liked even less that she didn’t know what they knew, or what their history said about her time. But the hard truth was, she could only deal with the situation in front of her. She needed to ease into this slowly. The Enterprise crew had accepted the short version of what had happened. She wanted to compare notes about their reactions with the others before she said anything more.

2. Deanna Troi hadn’t told the revived cryosleepers that she was an empath. If they had asked, she would have told them, of course. She would only conceal that information on the captain’s orders. But they had assumed from her appearance that she was human. That made it easier for her to do her job- assess what they were telling the captain. They hadn’t lied, that much was clear. But they definitely weren’t telling all that they knew. The simple truth was they didn’t trust her or her crewmates. Whatever had happened to these four people, it had left them permanently cautious.

3. Jean-Luc Picard sighed as he sipped his tea. Days like this were never easy. To tell the truth, he was glad he could retreat to his ready room to think this through in private. Their ‘guests’ had told them how and why they entered cryogenic stasis. But if Counselor Troi was to believed, what they’d said was not the full story. Beverly’s report on Buffy Summers’ unusual genetic profile might have something to do with their reticence. The time frame certainly made it suspicious. But until they could find out more, he wouldn’t know what- or who- they were dealing with.
