#101 - Waiting

Notes: Follows on from my other drabbles in the fandom found at chapters 41-46 of Snapshots.
He and Ryan step off the elevator, Castle and Beckett barely two steps behind bickering. He’s listening to them and taking off his vest as he walks, not paying attention to the rest of the squad room. Until Ryan stops and Castle walks into the back of him.
“What was that for?” He loses track of the argument going on behind him as he realises what made Ryan stop.
He grins. She’s sitting in his chair, feet up on the desk, file on her knees, pen tapping on her lip as she reads.
He tunes back in as Castle says, “Does she know she can’t read those?”
Buffy slips the file closed, face down, on to the desk and pulls herself to her feet, “It’s one of mine,” she answers with a smile.
He sees Beckett take a second look at the file, noting the slightly different shade to the NYPD files, she nods.
“Just catching up on some paperwork while I waited,” she says as she leans to him and kisses his cheek.
“You’re a Fed?” Ryan asks, surprised.
“Uh huh,” Buffy answers, shoving the file into her satchel.
She turns to him and holds out her hand, “ready?”
