If she didn’t know better, Buffy would think Annabeth Chase was another Slayer. She tickled Buffy’s spidey senses in much the same way as Slayers did. But Buffy had never met another Slayer who was so scary smart. Annabeth had been telling her a condensed version of her life story, which seemed to feature getting in a lot of trouble with Poseidon’s son.
“So I convinced Percy to let me listen to the Sirens. I knew it was risky, but I wanted to know my fatal flaw.”
“Did you find out?” Buffy asked, not expecting any specifics.
Annabeth nodded.
“Hubris.”

Percy laughed as he watched the empousa’s startled expression when the wooden stake erupted from her chest. He really liked this Slayer. She’d agreed to sneak out of camp with him to see if they couldn’t settle his score with Kelli. To his surprise, she’d pronounced the squad of cheerleader vamps ‘no problem’.
He’d been amused by the fact that Buffy routinely bantered with her opponents in battle. She’d already taken down the three other empousa Buffy had referred to as Kelli’s ‘minions’ with ease. Now she advanced on the head cheerleader.
“I’ll get you, Slayer,” Kelli hissed furiously, trying to work her way around the Slayer to get at Percy, who had played bait for the evening’s activities.
“And my little dog, too?” Buffy asked. “Actually, you won’t. You’re not that bright. We lured you here. It was easy. See, you know what the moral of this story is, Kelli?”
Kelli lunged, only to be snapped around by her wrist as Buffy grabbed her.
“You just couldn’t let him go, could you?” Buffy asked, as she slammed her stake home.
“All of Manhattan and you had to have Percy too. Didn’t anyone ever tell you not to be greedy?”

“I’ve seen how you look at him, you know,” Dawn said matter of factly.
The head of the Aries cabin jumped. Dawn tried not to chuckle at having startled the irascible girl. In a camp full of strong personalities, she stood head and shoulders above most of them.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Clarisse muttered.
“Of course you don’t,” Dawn agreed, following the other girl’s gaze to Percy, who was explaining something to a young camper from cabin nine.
“Anyone ever tell you that immortal Key or not, you’re nuts, Summers?”
Dawn snorted. Yeah, she’d heard that a time or two before. Usually without the ‘immortal Key’ part, but half the camp was in on that secret now, thanks to Dionysus.
“Quit trying to change the subject. So what is it? You have a crush on him? Cause it looks like that Athena chick has him all sewn up.”
Clarisse glared at her, her expression turning still more thunderous when she realized the glare wasn’t having any effect. Dawn was tempted to tell her a daughter of Ares had nothing on Glorificus.
“It’s not like that…”
Dawn suddenly got it.
“You envy him, don’t you?” she asked softly.

Willow looked up, knowing it wasn’t another camper interrupting her solitude. To her surprise, it was Dionysus himself.
“I wouldn’t say so to the brats, but I detest watching mortals mope.”
Willow smiled despite herself. Dionysus might play the grump, but he actually cared deeply about the camp, and the campers. It had taken losing one of his sons for him to let any of them see that, though.
“I’m not moping.”
He raised one godly eyebrow.
“Ok, maybe I am a little bit.”
“What’s on your mind, witch? Most of your kind would be thrilled to be invited to live here, among the children of Hecate, with the power of the gods surrounding them.”
Willow shivered. Trust a god to get right to the point.
“I’m not most witches,” she said sadly. “I’ve done some terrible things. I…I have a really bad temper. Like, I killed somebody bad. And I knew what I was doing when I did.”
To her surprise, Dionysus just shrugged. Then again, he was also the god of madness.
“If you think that disqualifies you to walk among us, you really need to brush up on your history. Perhaps a few lessons with the horse…”

Dawn wrinkled her nose. Talking to the Aphrodite girls was something she could only do in short bursts. If she hung out with them too much, she got the urge to smack them. They were good for talking fashion, boys, and relationships, but not much else.
“Why is it mostly girls in cabin ten?” she asked curiously. There was a boy or two, but for the most part, Aphrodite seemed to have daughters.
Arianna shrugged.
“Maybe her sons just manage well enough out in the world that they don’t need to come to camp.”
“And everyone in your cabin can work love magic?”
Arianna nodded smugly.
“Silena was the best, but all of us can do it to some degree. Not as well on other campers as on normal mortals, though.”
She looked miffed about that. Dawn privately thought it was probably a good thing. There were enough hookups at Camp Halfblood without the Aphrodite kids helping things along.
“So if there was a guy I really, really wanted just for one night…”
Arianna looked offended.
“Nothing like that. We do love magic. True love, romance! Not what you’re talking about!”
She said it like lust was a dirty word.

Xander watched curiously. The Ares camper hadn’t left the dining area all day. He just sat there, eating and eating. He looked furious about it, which made Xander think the whole endless dinner thing wasn’t his own idea.
“Hey, Grover?”
The satyr who had been showing him around followed his gaze and nodded.
“He got cursed by Pollux.”
“Pollux?”
“Mr. D’s son. Anyway, he said something about Castor and Pollux didn’t take it well. The curse will probably wear off soon…”
Grover didn’t sound too sure. Watching the poor kid scarfing down an entire turkey, Xander hoped he was right.

Xander groaned. He should have known better than to drink with Grover and Mr. D. Grover had the tolerance of a goat. And Mr. D was the god of wine. Just because he himself was restricted to diet Coke didn’t mean he didn’t keep the good stuff around. His head felt like it was going to explode.
Dawn and Annabeth chose that moment to come trotting in, all cheerful and chipper and making sounds. Xander tried frantically to shush them, but it was no use.
“Up and at ‘em, lazybones! You can’t sleep all day!” Dawn said.
Annabeth merely smirked.

It still amazed the woman who had once been Jenny Calendar how true ‘the more things change, the more they stay the same’ was. Her reincarnation was living proof of that. Jenna Kalendii’s existence gave new meaning to ‘technopagan’. The technology of the Twelve Colonies was more amazing than anything she’d known on Earth. She still wasn’t sure why she was here on Caprica, but when the Powers had offered her the chance at another life, she had taken it. She wasn’t bitter, but Angelus had killed her before she’d really gotten started. Maybe here she could make a difference.
Mod, I used the 'BSG' tag for the Caprica drabble, seeing as it's the same universe. If that's not ok, then I need a Caprica tag!
