Voices -calm, controlled and taking charge.  Lights -blurred overhead before he could focus.  Words, strange words.

Exorcism.

Disrupted the flow of magiks.

What?  Why weren’t his Ducklings treating him?  He was in the ER, right?

Greg pushed through the fog in his mind.  Chanting.

There had been chanting next door, where the lesbians lived.  And oops, their door had been unlocked.  He had walked in.  They -sitting on the floor.

Unfortunately, not naked.

Then he had gotten a nose bleed.  And his cane hadn’t been able to support him.  Medical emergency.  If he slept now, would he ever awake?

Awake?

Lorne smiled widely as he sang harmony.  He hadn’t had this much fun since before Angelcakes had come to LA.  Buster kept one eye on the drummer and one eye on the cops, but so far, neither had messed up the gig.

These ‘Brothers’ didn’t care what Lorne looked like, only if he could sing.  So Lorne sang his heart out for them.  His audition had been short and sweet.

“He knows Blues,” had been the response.

Yes, Lorne knew the Blues.  He knew the Brothers too.  Their futures were only filled with music.

All this music healed Lorne’s soul.

On accident, Harry let Bob out of the skull for four hours.  The spirit headed for the college, home to the randiest individuals ever.  He wanted to get another orgy started, but half-way there he got caught by another spirit.

A dead female strong in the magiks.

“I’m Anya and you’re a wind spirit.”

“Yes and I’m late for an orgy.”

“Sex?”  She immediately perked up.  “I’ll have sex with you.”

“You can’t satisfy me.”

“Wanna bet?”

Bob would have lost the bet, he/it realized as he awoke in the skull the next morning.

Bob liked Anya’s type of ghost.

challenge: #070 - Double Trouble
warnings: Implied Character death

author: PaBurke

Harmony huffed and checked the street behind her.  Nothing.  This was all wrong, she was supposed to be the hunter.  She couldn’t turn one brother without the other interfering, and bullets hurt even if they didn’t kill.  The twins were so pretty, the vampire wanted both as her lieutenants, but they refused to cooperate.  Eating the old man had been easy enough; he had a rule against killing females.

A whisper floated on the wind… “Shepherds we shall be, for Thee, My Lord, for Thee...”

A prayer.

Harmony had a feeling that she wouldn’t be around to hear the ‘Amen.’

word count: 100
fandom: Gilmore Girls
challenge: #071 - A truth and a lie
summary: One word can cover it all

author: PaBurke

Rupert Giles was staying in the quaint, little hotel in the sleepy, little town on the Atlantic coast.  It was so different from the busy London smog.  Part of him yearned for ‘home’ and part of him was glad that Willow had pushed him out for this ‘simple’ retrieval.  The residents of the town were nosy beyond belief, but not a single one was touched by the supernatural.  Neither a Slayer nor a Potential lived here.

Lorelai flirted with him over breakfast.  “So, are you enjoying your vacation?”  She was the owner and tended to be friendly and generous.

“Yes.”

title: Digging Up Faith
word count: 200
fandom: Firefly
challenge: #072 - Forgotten and Remembered
summary: what do you expect to find in a graveyard?

author: PaBurke

It was a bad idea to return to Osiris.  Sure enough, ten minutes after Serenity had touched down, River had disappeared.  Simon hurried to his old home, certain he’d find his sister.  She was there, but she hadn’t tried to approach the house.  Instead, Simon found her in the family cemetery muttering to herself and digging up the oldest grave.

“So sorry, we forgot.  History turned to legend, to myth and then fairy tales.  Then we forgot altogether.”

“River?”

His sister barely looked at him.  “We forgot, Simon.  Other families came from Earth-That-Was with food or riches, but we came with a box of bones so that we wouldn’t forget but we forgot.”  She finished digging and opened the casket.

“River!”

“We forgot our Faith.  It’s wrong!  She could have helped us.  She knew betrayal, confusion and even crazy.  She knew being wrong and killing.”  She pulled a wicked ax-like weapon out of the box.  “We remember now.  Now, we’re five-by-five.”

Simon looked at the bones and noticed that the arm had been sawed off and then placed with the body.  Also, the skull had been cut diagonally; a violent death for the respectable Tam family.

What had River unearthed?
