Notes: Dawn's having a bad day. (I'm new at this, please be kind.)
Dawn sighed. Why couldn't she just have been a normal girl? Well, as normal as a Slayer's younger sister who hung out with witches, Watchers, demons, and one-eyed carpenters could be. Normal girls didn't accidentally open up portals and end up lost in the woods in another dimension.
Still, it could be worse. In the years since Buffy had first seen Whistler, nearly the entire gang had encountered him at one time or another. She and Andrew were the only ones who hadn’t. Dawn decided things didn’t bode well for her remaining in the non-Whistler club long. As if on cue, the balance demon stepped out from behind a tree.
“You don’t look surprised to see me, kid.”
Dawn snorted. “The way my day’s been going, I figured you’d turn up. Spill.”
“You’re needed here, kid. You were meant to be here long ago, but big sis diving into Glory’s portal instead of you threw a spanner in the works.”
“Great.”
“You’ll find the Lady of the Golden Wood has the answers you seek.” And with that, he vanished.
“Wait, that was totally unhelpful!” Dawn yelled, but Whistler was already gone.
“You could have at least given me a map!”

Notes: Dawn's day just gets better and better.
Dawn stomped through the forest, not knowing or caring if there might be demons or other predators around to hear. She still didn’t know where she was, although she now knew the Powers were involved, thanks to Whistler. And thanks to Whistler’s many interactions with Scoobies, he knew it was best to say whatever he’d been ordered to say and scram before anyone could try to make ribcage hats, hex him into oblivion, or even try to drywall him into another dimension. So all Dawn had learned was that she would get answers from some lady in a Golden Wood. Whatever that meant.
Given the snit she was in, it was no surprise that Dawn didn’t notice anything until suddenly two arrows were pointed directly into her face at uncomfortably close distance. A third man stepped from between the two arrow wielders, his expression haughty. “Who are you that you enter the realm of Lothlorien?”
“I’m Dawn and I’m lost, so entering your Lothlorien wasn’t exactly on purpose and I’d appreciate if you’d point the arrows elsewhere.”
“If you are lost, then it is fortunate we found you. Orcs roam these parts, it is unsafe to wander alone,” Haldir replied.
