Author’s note: This story picks up after Challenge 72 (Kiss). I just can’t leave Faith and Nick like that, don’t you think so? LoL
NICK STARED AT THE feisty brunette riding on the passenger seat of his truck. He just got off shift and she waited for him until he wrapped up his most recent case. He had to give her props for helping him track down the killer.
“Wanna grab something to eat?” he invited.
Faith’s response was a mere cocking of a brow and giving him a sideways glance, an amused grin made her lips quirk.
“Jeez, Tex, you never seem to cease to amaze me,” she said in that low, husky-throaty smokers voice she had that often drove him crazy.
Nick frowned. “Amaze you? How?”
“I practically gutted the sonofabitch right in front of you and you still have the stomach to grab something to eat?” She didn’t sound the least bit annoyed. She was impressed.
Nick gulped audibly, his throat suddenly tightening as he remembered how Faith jumped out from behind and cleaved the killer he was after from the head downwards. He would’ve protested that she just killed their killer if he hadn’t seen the killer’s true form before Faith ended him.
“So…dinner?” he asked with that dopey dimpled grin.
Faith just stared at him in amazement and laughed.
