Title: 24 Notes
Word Count: 200

Long after the bugle’s call faded and the nation’s flag had been folded, she remained huddled against the brisk chill of Idaho in January, staring at the polished marker. Her frame dwarfed by Maj. Miller and Lt. Finn, who held her husband’s neatly folded flag proudly to her chest. Samantha’s head lowered and she gently touched the blonde’s shoulder, stepped back from the frontlines to mourn in private.

Square toed heels brought her through the lightly falling snow and she stopped before SG-1, met Mitchell’s concerned stare head on and struggled to remain impassive. Struggled not to blame his team for Riley’s death at the hands of the Ori, “That’s her.”

Mitchell’s gaze slid past her to Miller and the arm he casually draped over the blonde’s thin shoulders. Cam ignored the flash of accusation in the soldier’s gaze and moved aside.

Samantha shut down, ignored them as she continued in her retreat and Daniel stepped forward, away from his team that had designated him front man for this mission of recruitment. He hated the fact that they weren’t allowing this woman to grieve, to mourn but the universe was at war and for the moment they haven’t the time.

The End.

Title: Honkyoku
Word Count: 200

Tentatively he wrapped his hand around the doorknob but even with the verbal approval to enter Daniel was hesitant to infiltrate her domain, where the soft melody of a honkyoku could be heard through the door. With a deep inhalation and a resolute stiffening of his spine he entered and paused as his gaze found Buffy sitting cross-legged on the floor.

Her eyes were closed, face devoid of emotion, as her breaths seemed to coincide with the flickering of the numerous candles filling the room with muted light.

“I’m sorry, I’m interrupting-”

Her head tilted, eyes closed. “Sit or go but close the door I’m getting a draft.”

Daniel’s brows rose, “I was coming to see how you were settling in.”

One eye opened and he had to suppress the spark of amusement as she peered up at him, “I’m settled.”

Daniel stepped into the room and allowed the door to close behind him and Buffy resumed her earlier pose and closed her eyes. His focus shifted to her computer as the honkyoku became accompanied by ritual chanting and he then turned back toward the newest member of the SGC.

“Are you going to sit or stare?”

He sat.
 The End.

Title: A Curiosity
Word Count: 200

The door was opened and the soft, yet stilted song coming from within brought her steady progression past the Lt. Colonel’s office to a standstill. She inclined her head, contemplating moving on but decided to peek inside. Her lips pulled up at the corners as if drawn by her eyebrows as Buffy caught sight of not only Mitchell seated in front of the portable television on his desk but Teal’c as well.

“Hey.”

Mitchell’s head swiveled around and he nodded, “Summers.”

Her eyes drifted to the television and the funeral scene being depicted there. “Old School?”

Teal’c never turned his focus from the screen as he stated, “A most interesting study of human interaction.”

Buffy arched a brow, “He knows it’s fiction right?”

“Untrue. DanielJackson, O’Neill and myself once observed human females battle for dominance in a ring of jello much like the previous scene.”

Mitchell’s eyes widened and Buffy’s hand rose to cover her wide smile as they spoke in unison.

“Daniel?”

“Jackson?”

“Indeed.”

The Lt. Colonel shook his head before motioning to the far corner and the spare chair located there. Buffy smiled and sat as Teal’c’s large frame leaned toward her to offer the bowl of popcorn.

The End.

Author’s Notes: The first drabble 24 Notes is how many notes are in Taps. In the second drabble a Honkyuko was used in meditation by the Samaria. The third drabble was when Will Ferrell sings “Dust in the Wind” by Kansas.
