When she came out, a very familiar person was leaning against the wall beside her bike. (Agon had eventually learned that she didn't like him leaning ON the bike, because of what he always did to the finish. Not that he'd ever admit that he'd stopped because she'd yell about it, but Megu still considered this a minor victory.)
She sipped her drink, eyeing him. "Hey."
He made an exaggerated face. "Irate female at three o' clock. Dare I approach?"
"If you dare. I'm not in the mood for anything right now. Even talking. Scoot." She moved him aside to get at her bike.
"'cause you lost? I could've told you."
"Not helping?"
"Come on." Agon put a hand on her arm. "Those guys you hang out with... sure, maybe they could've beaten Deimon if they tried, but they're still trash. 'cept for maybe Habashira, none of them's good for anything."
"That's my team you're talking about."
"Yeah." For a wonder, Agon actually looked serious. "That's why I haven't said it before, 'cause I figured you'd need showing, not telling. But honestly, I get that you like those guys, but you're never gonna get anywhere being dragged down by them."
She sniffed a little, her back toward him.
Agon had to admit he was a bit conflicted about this. Normally, hanging out with the trash meant you WERE trash - it was that simple. Even with people like Shin or - he ruthlessly stomped on THAT thought. Anyway. They were never going to climb up to his level, because they couldn't let go of the baggage. Megu was different though. In time she'd realize that she didn't need anybody but him, because if you had a genius who'd do anything for you, what use was there for other people? So he could forgive her for not getting it right off the bat. "Hey." He put his hands on her shoulders, squeezing gently. "It's no big deal. There's better things for you out there."
"Like what?" She turned around and buried her face in his chest, mentally making sure there was no snot. "They're my fucking team, it's not like I can just drop them...Rui's my best friend."
"They dropped YOU," Agon pointed out. Matter of fact, Megu had it worse than him in that regard, because maybe Unko-chan and Ikkyuu and the rest weren't up to the standard he had a right to expect of so-called teammates, but at least they made an effort.
"We still have another shot." She sighed. "I'll stick it out until then."
"If you gotta." It was a bit of a disappointment, but he supposed that was just the way she was... stubborn. Which was part of what made her interesting, so he guessed he shouldn't complain.
Time to change the subject. "So what's this I hear about a bet?"
"Oh hell." Megu pulled away and rubbed her temples. "That IDIOT made a bet with Hiruma for some insane amount of money if we lost, apparently. Now he can't pay up and they're slaves. That's what he gets, I say."
"They? Not you?" If that slimy creep even tried -
"Pfft. I think Hiruma knows that's out of the question."
"He'd just fucking better," Agon agreed.
She smirked a little. "Oh yeah?"
"Yeah. 'cause if he got fresh with you, I'd hafta put his arm in plaster, and then there'd be no more amefuto for HIM."
"Don't do that!" She looked slightly horrified.
"Why not?" Agon asked, bemused. It'd be perfect after all. If Hiruma messed with the thing Agon wanted most, then taking away what HIRUMA wanted most would be the best revenge...
"Because then the games wouldn't be as interesting."
"Ah. Point." He grinned, and hugged her tighter. "Trust you to think of that."
She grinned back, kissing his nose. "See? I think of everything."
"Ah," Agon agreed happily. And she was smiling again, too - that was good. Crying women were such a drag.
Megu finished off her drink in a quick drag and went to go throw the cup away.
"So. What's next?"
"I don't know. I'd planned on going and eating a tub of ice cream, then watching a bunch of shitty movies. You?"
Agon grimaced. He could think of way better things for her to do that night, but... "Gotta be at practice. Coach's gonna unveil his plans for summer training. Ten to one they involve the fucking waterfall again." Actually, strictly speaking he should've already been on his way back to arrive on time, but what the hell... if they were gonna force him to waste time with that shit, he could at least register his displeasure by being fashionably late.
"You actually go to practice? Don't geniuses not need practice?" She tugged a dreadlock.
"That's why it sucks," Agon grimaced. "Normally I don't have to bother with that shit, but now Coach wants the whole team. No idea why."
"Well, good luck there." She gave him a kiss. "Come by later, if you want."
For a moment Agon toyed with the idea of skipping practice after all, but... it wouldn't do to piss off the old fart too much. Not that he NEEDED Sendou to approve of him, but things went so much smoother at school if you had somebody to smooth over any little... misunderstandings.
Instead he kissed Megu back. "Yeah, I will."
"Alright. See you later." She hopped on her bike and sped off
