Juggling, hostess bars, and the end of March

My accomplishment of the week - I can swap two skittles (clubs - but isn't 'skittle' cuter?) from hand to hand pretty reliably, at least starting from the right (I'm so disgustingly right-handed, it's terrible). I'll work on the left tomorrow, if my arms don't fall off after S.E.T. (and hopefully kickboxing, unless my body wimps out on me like ( Read more... )

If the companies that you guys tried out for to work in Japan and teach English don't pan out, I'd seriously recommend trying for JET in the fall. Work experience and no history of homesickness is the bulk of what they look for. You'd be surprised at how many people are going this year that pretty much just have a couple years teaching experience and like absolutely no Japanese/Japan experience. It's a plus, but seriously, I was surprised. :O

Other than that, well... I did go to a crossdressing host(ess) cafe while in Tokyo! :D; Not sure if there's much in the way of English conversation on that front, though.

Hehe~ I've heard about the host(ess) cafes, but I need one that would hire *me*! ^_~; (Dream job wut??? Paid to dote on and flirt with girls...)

I'm going to have to suck it up and apply for JET, I guess. I'm so terrified of their interview process, and so worried they're going to send me somewhere I don't want to be and I won't know until I accept the position. -_-; (I hate hot weather, I'm terrified of being stationed in Okinawa or Kyushu or something and melting to death.)

Start with an English-teaching program and then get hired as a host(ess)?? 8D

The interview was not bad at all, really. Throughout the process of applying, they kinda prep you for what they'll ask about (since it's basically just expounding upon your application answers). All you really have to do is think of some stuff that you'd use in a lesson plan (I just said that I'd teach kids songs, I didn't need anything more specific than that) and, if you speak some Japanese, give a little intro. I flailed hardcore when asked to speak Japanese and they still hired me. XD; As for getting sent somewhere, during the interview, they ask why you specifically requested your placements and that's where you can tell them something like "I just can't deal with heat, so I wanted to make sure I was placed somewhere with middling temperatures and far from Okinawa and Kyuushuu."

...All right, I think you've talked me into it! (Now I just have to talk my Roy into it...)

...ZOMG, I can't even remember the last time I tried to do 自己紹介...>_<;;; That was hard enough in CLASS. (Although somewhere, I have one written down, LOL~)

When do applications for JET start? >__________< You're so sweet. Thank you for all your help~

Since you live close to LA, you could even make it to little sessions they have at the consulate to help you with filling out your application. I believe everything needs to be completed and turned in by early November? It's something like that, so they start helping people with applications and things in the September/October area. The only thing with JET is that you would have to wait until like... July to get to Japan. Though, I think there might be an off-season group of applicants that they send earlier? You might want to check at http://www.us.emb-japan.go.jp/JET/ and look through stuff.

I've been periodically working on a 自己紹介 all this month, since they require one when you first get introduced to your students. XD;;; I've run out of things to say about myself, so I'm just going to start talking about my parents and sister. 8B

Haha, seriously. I think I talked about my hometown and all kinds of useless stuff. When we did that in class, we were required to think of a joke/anecdote to help people remember our name, too. Haha~

And I shall go and check it out~! Hey, if nothing else, it's a backup because if I'm not in Japan by this time next year, I dun even know what I'm going to do. -_-;;;
