Flashbacks~

epiic posting summer pictures reminds me that I started posting my AX report and then forgot about it forever. Haaaaa~ And here I was, catching up at last. No such luck. It's almost October already -_-;

In the meantime, I have been playing some Diablo II. Talk about infinite replay value. That game is, what, 10 years old? And to be honest, I think I could still play through the first game, if I had a disc for it, and I'd have just as much fun. Blizzard has a teaser website up for the sequel, but as their FAQ will basically tell you, "Here at Blizzard Entertainment, we like to take as much time as we effing please." Am excited for the 'monk' class, though. People who abstain from edged weapons are badass. QUARTERSTAFF IT, BIYATCHES.

...Aha...ha...

Speaking of classes, the assassin class is brokenly powerful and I am most of the way through the second set of quests already. This was much harder with my druid, even though he had a swarm of helper-beasties. I think with the expansion pack there's four. Sets of quests, I mean. Me and my claws of dual-wielding awesome and my uber-cheap (I mean that in a number of senses) spinning blades of death are wading through the demonic hordes. I just forgot how to spell 'hordes' for a second. Some teacher I am. Video games are bad for you.

Aaaaaanyway. That's what *I*'m doing right now. And if you didn't already know that I am a dork, well, there you go. If I could play Diablo AND listen to Star Trek I think my head would explode from glee.

Started work at the BYB English Center this week - tutoring little kids in English. And Japanese businessmen, apparently, although so far my two classes were both kids. I have another one on Thursday. Apparently people are excited that I'm a 'real' teacher, too^^; I spent this morning making worksheets for that and typing up the worksheet Harada-sensei wanted for Saturday.

Arrrrrrgh~ I had a lot of fun actually being of some use in Harada-sensei's class last Saturday (and I stayed until the end at the teacher's meeting, points for me! I got to make tea, too, with Kobayashi-sensei), but it looks like they're going to move me into whichever class Akemi-san is in this semester so I can tutor her. She's a really sweet kid, and she tries really hard, and I don't mind helping her...it's just I don't feel as useful when I'm just sitting coaxing kids into doing their work. Ah, well. I get to teach the rest of the week, and that's what they need me to do I guess since I don't think Augustson-sensei is going to be teaching this session.

I've only subbed one day so far this week (teachers are still rested from summer, I guess, no work for subs -_-;;; ), but I had two classes at BYB so far and another to come (hopefully, the one I had today got cancelled), and I have my orientation/training/whatever at the Nijiya Market on Friday (come visit me! ...Well, in a few weeks, when I know what I'm doing) during the day. So that's exciting, too. I'll gain 15 pounds working there because they sell inari sushi for 75 cents and I love those things but they're full of white rice. Haha~ Most of the other clerks I've met speak Spanish, so maybe I'll pick up some more of that, too. Bonus? I'll learn Spanish just in time to go to Japan and forget everything that isn't Japanese. Including English. Well, hopefully not, or I can't imagine they'll let me keep teaching it.

Anyway, wish me luck in all this. Somehow with three 'real' jobs and the community center I'm still not working as much as I'd like. But it's all in the setup stages. We'll see.

OMG WUT I actually posted about my life. My recent life. All right, /that.

AND NOW.

07/04: Saturday of AX, and the day before the wife's birthday! Lacking real Portal cosplay, we did what we could:

PORTAL CAKE!
...Sadly, my final pictures of this process were deleted by mistake -_-;;;

We took awesome mugshot driver's license ID card pictures and went as unwitting Apeture Science employees.

...I posted the video already, so I guess talking about what we did with the cake is redundant...oh, but it still makes me giggle.

Yes, they do make fish-shaped chocolate crackers. I was amazed too.

And much merrymaking ensued.

Fun with stairs.

GlaDOS, looking eerily GlaDOS-like.

Later on we met up with epiicand went to a truly disgusting restaurant, then found some open space because a con just isn't a con without making our own ballroom dance. ^_~

epiic took some neat pictures of me looking evil:

...Despite my horrendous tendancy to make weird faces.

Up next (hopefully? Eventually?) is Sunday - Hetalia day! ^^ Sadly, most of the pictures were taken indoors (actually, all of them might have been) so I make no promises about the quality. BUT THE AWESOMENESS TRANSCENDS. Or something. Anyway.

Yay~
