I think everyone's familiar with the recent fansubbing issue, so I'll just get straight to the point. As someone who has been devoting what might add up to several full days of writing for various fandoms, I am throughly pissed. So I'll post my MSN rant here.
[M for Maude + yoko-yoko 8-| KAT-TUN] spin, spin, spin says:
*i mean i understand that they're angry people are stealing their subs and making money off of them
*but that doesn't mean you have to be rude and a dick to people who don't kiss your ass and straight out say it
*someone said this in a comment to a fansub group:
*"It's a shame you're being really bitchy about releases, because it's being a while since I saw subs that I actually liked. :/ I'm not joining the forums because I just wanted a show, so I'll guess I'll look for another team for the subs. :/
Not like I want to go around the forum kissing your asses to watch a 50 minute program, anyways."
*and a member of the staff (who is over 21 years old may I add)
*"Here, have some other fansubbing options. Cry moar somewhere else with your butthurt"
*just because you're a fansubber doesn't mean you can be an asshole to someone who would've encouraged you had you been less bitchy, and get away with it.
*i don't think they understand that they are not the only devoted fucks who give precious hours of their lives to fandom
*there are MILLIONS of writers, graphic makers, translators, scanners who devote their time to make fandom a fun place and they don't expect people to put them ahead of themselves just because they're being nice and doing something they're supposed to like
*and it's their responsibility as a human being and in most cases an ADULT to accept that not everything will go the way they want and that they might get criticism
*it's the freaking internet. grow up, suck it up and get over it.
