KinKi Kids' Songs From Famous Composers, Lyricists & Musicians

Jul 31, 2016 23:57

One of the things that made KinKi special is that many famous composers, lyricists and musicians contribute to their music. Personally, I believe it is one of the biggest factors that contribute to their million singles/albums sales in early of their career. Of course, they have been famous for their lovely voices too but I always amazed with how many popular and famous music personalities contribute to their music over the years. ♥

They are now the 19th best selling artists in Japan. They used to be the 17th but AKB48 and Arashi sudden popularity in recent years have over took their position in the ranking.

COMPOSERS & LYRICISTS
Yamashita Tatsuro

I put Yamashita-san on top of the list since his name is part of the reasons why Garasu no Shounen sold nearly 2 millions copies. You can find his name on KinKi's single covers everytime he produced something for them; 'Produced & Arranged by TATSURO YAMASHITA' can be seen on the cover of Garasu no Shounen, Jetcoaster Romance & Happy Happy Greeting.- Garasu no Shounen
- Kiss Kara Hajimaru Mystery
- Jetcoaster Romance
- Happy Happy Greeting
- Inochi no Saigo no Hitoshizuku

Yoshida Takuro

Takuro-san is the one who teached KinKi on how to play guitars back in their Love Love Aishiteru days. In other words, he actually nurtured KinKi to be who they are today. Hosting LLA together with KinKi, he is remembered the most among KinKi's fans for composing LLA's theme song; Zenbu Dakishimete which went on to sell more than 1 million units.
- Zenbu Dakishimete
- Kiken na Kankei

COMPOSERS
Tsutsumi Kyōhei

He is the best selling composer in Japan with 76 million unit singles sold under his name. I actually wish he will compose more songs for KinKi in the future.
- Yamenaide, Pure
- Rajikon

Oda Tetsuro

Oda Tetsuro is probably one of my fave composers ever. I basically love all of the songs that he ever composed for KinKi. Some of you might recognize his face since he made an appearance in KinKi's 2013 PV; Mada Namida ni Naranai Kanashimi ga since he is the one who composed the song for them (Tsuyo & Ko-chan both smiled when they saw him in the garage). ^^; He is the third best selling composer in Japan with more than 40 million single copies sold under his name.

Sakamoto Ryuichi

What made Sakamoto Ryuichi awesome is the fact that he has won an Academy Award, BAFTA, Grammy, and two Golden Globe Awards in his 40 years career as a music composer. So to have him compose a song for KinKi is actually very amazing. He also composed the music for 1992 Barcelona Olympics opening ceremony, and his composition 'Energy Flow' in year 1999 was the first instrumental number-one single in Japan's Oricon charts history. He only composed one song for KinKi and like Tsutsumi Kyōhei-san, I wish he will give more songs to them.

LYRICISTS
Akimoto Yasushi

I think everybody know who is Akimoto-san -- he is AKB48 and its sister groups' mastermind. None can deny how talented Akimoto-san as a lyricist. When he guested with SKE48 at SDK, you get a look at his excellent ways with words on the books he wrote in the past. He is the best selling lyricsts in Japan with over 100 million copies of single sold under his name. No one else come close to touch his record as the best selling lyricist in Japan for many years to come. Despite the simple lyrics he usually wrote for AKB and its sister groups, suprisingly his lyrics for other artists is serious, romantic, poetic and beautiful.

- Kawatta Katachi no Ishi

Matsumoto Takashi

Matsumoto-san wrote a lot of songs for KinKi from early they debuted even until now. He contributed a lot to KinKi's million singles & album sales and he wrote 3 songs for KinKi's K Album. In term of his recognition as a lyricist, he is the 3rd best selling lyricist in Japan behind Akimoto-san. The singles written by him have sold around 50 million copies in Japan. KinKi's Garasu no Shounen is actually the best selling single of his career. In 2015, KinKi was invited to SONGS where they sing chart-topping singles written by Matsumoto-san and in that program also, Matsumoto-san wrote a heartfelt letter towards them that made both of them touched with how he views the two of them as a unit.

Satomi
Okay, she's not a popular lyricist in Japan but I LOVE the lyrics she wrote for KinKi. Personally, I find her extremely talented with words. And she always tend to write the best love songs for them. Like Snapshot for an example, I love how she used photographs to tell a story of a failed relationship. And how the background vocals in the song is the POV of the woman while the main lyrics is the POV of man in the said relationship.

OTHER MUSICIANS
DREAMS COME TRUE
Tsuyoshi is a big fan of them! I remember when they guested at Shoujiki Shindoi, he is extremely nervous haha. I love Ne, Ganbaru Yo to pieces and it is actually an answer song to DREAMS COME TRUE's song; 'Marry You'.
- Ne, Ganbaru Yo

Tokunaga Hideaki
I think everyone knows who is this man. A very respected male solo singer in Japan. I remember he is sad when he saw the simple cover of Eien, Ni lol. He thought its a blueprint design. XD
- Eien, Ni

Takamizawa Toshihiko (THE ALFIE)
Takamizawa-san.... I actually shocked he took this long to write and compose a song for KinKi. I always feel Takamizawa-san genuinely care for both of them. He always seemed interested with their stories and actually went to their solo activies in his private time.
- Inochi no Kiseki

Yoshie Kazuya (THE YELLOW MONKEY)
The one who wrote a sooo 'not innocent' song for KinKi. XD I wondered why he named the song Bara to Taiyou and I finally understand it when I read the translation of the song. :P
- Bara to Taiyou

Just because he is with KinKi in everything -- SDK, their concerts and everything. He usually just arrange their songs but in recent years, he contributed in writing and composing songs for them also.
