mou sukoshi dake ite
So I see in my last post the year was off to a depressing start! Obviously that was an understatement.
So first some feelings:GODDAMMIT this is a terrible way for a group to end T^T T^T T^TTTT I just don't get the point, unless one or more of them really want out of the jimusho as soon as possible. I can't see how Kimura could have quit at the beginning of the year anyway, since he already had a movie deal lined up and you don't just leave people hanging like that? Sigh... too much speculation, and I hate speculation like I hate tabloids that try to make us choose sides. No, thank you, that's not why I'm a fan. I just hope they'll do some kind of final performance, if apparently not at Kohaku. And dammit Nakai had better guest on Bistro! Make it the last episode or something, Fuji, just give us what we need T^T
Would be awesome to have one last SMAP Shop, too, but December's already around the corner so it seems unlikely... C'mon, jimusho, it's the perfect opportunity to milk me for all I'm worth! Y'know, before I swear off any Johnny's at all. I'm not even sure I want to buy the 25 years album-- other than Chomoranma no uta, it just doesn't really feel all that... special. Like they just stuck all the songs on there in chronological order and that was it. Maybe I'll just make my own 50-song best of album instead, hmm...
In things not related to SMAP (or elections o.O), the year has actually not been terrible at all-- I finished my Japanese language program, followed by one-on-one tutoring during the summer in which I translated my research documents and practiced job interviews, and now I'm *ahem* hard at work on my dissertation research, and doing some actual translation part-time work. Which I am loving, I've never felt so clearly before that this is what I want to do with my life :D Once I graduate, I am definitely aiming to find full-time translation work in Japan!
Speaking of, I finally finished all the SMAP albums and singles! And made myself cry all over again with Ai ga tomaru made wa and Suki yo ;-;
Will probably add a misc section for Otorangers and the solo singles and whatever else I can think of... Gotta get back to Okiraku2, though.
Ficwise, I seem to keep starting AUs and losing steam halfway? Idk, I'm poking at them, we'll see if inspiration strikes again somewhere. I may have a couple short AU things to post soon, though! Oh, and 2tops has definitely eaten my brain :3
Lastly! If anyone is in Japan or will be in Japan anytime in the future and would be interested in some SMAP karaoke, let me know! I'd really love to do a SMAP karaoke night (no pressure, I am a terrible singer) but have yet to meet anyone into SMAP enough :P
