Personality:
One of the first words that come into many people that meet Mio for the first time is shy, and they wouldn’t be wrong to call her that. Always afraid of crowds, and most importantly, being the center of attention on them, Mio is not one to take a leading position, or at least not willingly unless the situation requires it; for the rest of the cases, though, Mio is prone to run away from attention, or simply freak out and faint. Girl has no head to stand social pressure, and for that very same reason she can easily coerced to do things, although that won’t stop her from complain the whole time. She’s a phobic person alright (this played more in the anime than the manga), and while her fears usually have a crippling effect on her, she’s capable of overcoming them for her friends’ sake.
Quiet and sensitive, she’s usually soft and an all around nice girl to be around, and a true friend to those she gives her confidence, who get to see a way livelier, brighter side of Mio, in which she shows herself as she truly is: fun loving and with as much smarts as looks, and does she have looks… Her inherent prettiness, in her opinion, tends to get in the way, or more accurately, it makes her stand out too much when she’s trying to blend in with the background. Flirting of any kind will result in her freaking out, mainly because she can’t bear the thought of someone being interested in her like that. She’s quite the traditionalist, too, since she considers a “proper woman” shouldn’t fell in love until she reaches adulthood…and her opinion on men isn’t that great either, which makes her an improbable target for romantic advances.
Responsible and dedicated, Mio is a very good student, capable of enduring long hours of study and more importantly, learningand retaining the information. She doesn’t like to brag though, so one wouldn’t know just how much she knows unless you take a look at her grades or have her tutor you, something she is usually against, although people insistent enough that she trusts can easily manage to change her mind. Because of her inherent shyness, Mio rarely organizes outings and activities with her friends, usually being the last one invited anywhere, mostly due to rejecting the invitation the first time, deeming it as childish or a waste of time (she is pretty glad to be re-invited, though).
Mio usually tries to give the impression of being the responsible, independent one on her group of friends, but it’s just so easy to tease and break her cool that the act rarely lasts much. Still, she always tries to be mature and composed…unless she is currently failing at it, of course. The facts she is still used to boost the attention on her club (much against her will) and gets walked over all the time don’t stop her from keep trying.
