[Age] 18-19 years old, so I'll go with 19. He looks about 4-5 years or so older than his sister Elizabeth who is 14, thus the estimate.

[Point in time taken from canon] The end of Chapter 58, after he has been reunited with Elizabeth and is about to board a life boat.
[Background]
Born to Marquess and Marchioness Middleford, Edward is the first son to this noble family. His younger sister Elizabeth is engaged to Ciel Phantomhive, his cousin from his mother's side. In line to inherit his father and mother's legacy, Edward has had a privileged upbringing, albeit a strict one if his mother's personality is anything to go by. Edward's days were filled with the various activities and responsibilities the only son of a Marquess would partake in; such as hunting, fencing, swordsmanship, drawing, music, dance and socials. On top of this, there is also the duty he holds as a knight - his family is a family of knights, in fact, with his father being the very Head of the Order of Knights. The duty and responsibility Edward has toward the Queen and her subjects is one he takes seriously, much like his mother and father do.
When we first meet Edward he's on the high class cruise ship Campania with his family, visiting with Ciel since his cousin had been invited by his father to accompany them on vacation. He shows complete distaste for Ciel, which only seems to deepen when he finds out he's no longer being his sister's escort to the dance. While a secret society aboard the ship begins to raise the hundreds of corpses that were unknown to normal passengers, the ship becoming quite literally overrun by zombies, we see Edward again fighting alongside his mother and father with his sword. He leaves a message with Sebastian, telling the butler to let Ciel know that if anything befalls Elizabeth, his sister, Ciel Phantomhive will pay.
As the boat continues to sink, Edward continues to do his best to defend his fellow citizens against the onslaught of the undead as people begin to board the life boats. He yells, rather loudly, at men who try to board the life boats before women and children, disgusted at the selfishness shown. While trying to help keep order, Elizabeth is finally reunited with Edward, who embraces her immediately, and for the first time since we've been introduced to him, smiles. When Sebastian knocks Elizabeth out, Edward is upset at first, but then thankful, since he'd never be able to raise a hand toward his sister. Ready to board the life boat with Elizabeth in his arms, Edward tells Ciel he doesn't have to come back - he's more than ready to not give Ciel his little sister as a bride.
[Personality]
Take a mould for a young prince charming, fill it with an unwavering, stubborn courage and most importantly, bestow him with a short fuse. Paint him with golden blond hair and emerald green eyes and you've got yourself Edward Middleford - the eldest child and only son of Marquess Middleford and his wife Frances Middleford. He's a prim and proper young man, having been brought up under his mother's strict rule and his father's stern, but often doting guidance.
Order, duty and honor are three things that are, to Edward, necessary to lead a successful life. This belief certainly comes from his mother, who is overly obsessed with order, promptness and duty. She's an overbearing presence to most, especially his cousin Ciel Phantomhive and the Earl's butler Sebastian, who are seen as slovenly in appearance to her, along with incompetent, until Ciel proved himself by protecting his fiance and Edward's younger sister, Elizabeth Middleford. However, to Edward, his mother is someone who he seems to idolize, becoming literally starry-eyed alongside his father as they both try to impress the noble woman, looking to her for praise and approval. He isn't afraid of her in the least and for his mother, whom most seem afraid of, he has the utmost respect.
Being the first born and ultimately the only son of Marquess Middleford, Edward has, in essence, always been taught to be orderly and as perfect as possible. He's to be a proper gentleman, a man of honor and one who was prepared to fit the role in society he would have to fill eventually. He's also a knight, a responsibility all the members of his family hold aside from his younger sister. The Middleford family has been, for generations, a family who has protected England and its people through the duty of knighthood and this is a responsibility Edward takes very, very seriously. While he and his family are trapped on board the zombie infested boat, they do not abandon those other passengers who are helpless. Instead, the three stand together, swords at ready to slay the undead creatures. No fear or hesitation is shown on Edward's face as he draws his sword, ready to fight and defend those his family has surrounded. Instead he exclaims rather bravely 'We are English knights. We protect the weak.' and if that would cost Edward his life, he'd wholeheartedly accept it.
Protecting others is something he must do, not only as a knight but as a brother and as Elizabeth Middleford's older brother he takes that duty very seriously. He's possessive of her, jealous of her, especially when she clings to Ciel and very easily brushes him off, asking Ciel to escort her to a dance when it was to be his duty to take her. In fact, Ciel Phantomhive seems to be the one individual who can set off his short tempter without any effort at all. In a matter of seconds after his reunion with Ciel Edward is already yelling at him, yelling at the boy that he still hasn't recognized him as his brother-in-law. In fact, his rage is so great that he comes off as if he refuses to acknowledge the engagement altogether. His sister seems to be his first priority in regards to everything, for he even threatens Ciel when he tells Sebastian to tell him that if anything befalls Elizabeth, he'll regret it. His hostility toward Ciel may lie in the fact that Ciel is usually the reason why Elizabeth ever becomes upset in the first place. Her tears and sorrows are usually centered around the boy and if Edward is unable to do anything himself personally to cheer her up in her times of sadness, this would lead to contempt. After all, no one should be allowed to harm his sister - physically or emotionally. Edward's contempt goes so far as to force him to say, rather bluntly, that Ciel 'does not have to come back' from the sinking, zombie infested cruise ship as he stays behind with Sebastian. It's cruel, but the truth and Edward states it without remorse - he'd be more than fine not to give Ciel his 'cute little sister as a bride'. There is also the fact that Elizabeth's marriage to Ciel would put her in a dangerous position that Edward refuses to accept. If Elizabeth were to marry Ciel, she'd become the wife of the Queen's Watchdog, and with the former Earl of Phantomhive and his wife having died because of their ties to the Queen, it's a sobering, if not looming worry that Elizabeth and her Fiance could easily befall the same fate.
When it comes to Elizabeth, he's somewhat stern, chiding her when she hugs Ciel in public, an echo of his mother's words as she reprimands her daughter. He's certainly possessive of her, gets terribly furious at the very fact Ciel was embraced by her and yet, if his and his father's reactions toward his mother are anything to go by, the doting side of his father has most likely rubbed off on him. He even calls her by her nickname, Lizzy, another sign of affection. All in all, he's the protective, big brother type, her own personal knight in shining armor and if given the chance, he probably wouldn't let anyone marry his sister in the first place. It's also with Elizabeth that we see Edward for the first time smile. When he's reunited with Lizzy, he embraces her fully with a smile, excited and overwhelmed with relief that she's safe and sound. His jealousy gets the better of him when he tells Ciel that it's fine if the boy never returns. He'd be more than happy to not have to give his cute little sister away to him to marry.
In essence, Edward is a near picture perfect example of how a young, noble British gentleman should act and carry himself. Family is just as important as his fellow Britons and the Queen; he longs to protect and serve both for as long as he can. While he may have a short tempter when it comes to matters concerning his sister, he's utterly calm and collected in the face of danger and potential death. The priority he places on the lives of others that he must protect over his own is rather commendable, but to him, it's only a matter of duty.
After all, when it comes down to it, to a true man in Victorian England, order, honor and responsibility are everything.
[Abilities]
Edward is just a normal human, although he's rather skilled when it comes to wielding a sword. He's also fairly intelligent and rather decent at a number of things such as drawing, music and dance.

[First Person]
- Do you have any future goals or dreams? What are they?
To uphold my mother and father's legacy and the Middleford name when I inherit his title. Also, to continue my service toward Her Majesty as one of her many loyal knights. I also hope to find a Lady I would be proud to call my wife and start a family of my very own.
- Can you surpass God?
Of course not. No man can or should even have the gall to attempt such a foolish thing. It's blasphemous to think any man can become a God.
- Oh no! Someone tripped and injured themselves right in front of you! What do you do?
Immediately help them without question. What man, let alone knight, would allow his fellow citizen to injure themselves and then refuse to assist them? Disgusting.
- What disgusts you the most?
Disloyalty, above almost all else disgusts me the most. A man should be loyal to his country and queen, along with his family. One should not see himself above others simply because of social status or wealth. Every man is equal in the eyes of the law and God - the only thing that makes one better is their disposition. generosity and good nature toward others.
But, if I am to be honest, above even that? Ciel Phantomhive's treatment of my Lizzy infuriates and disgusts me more than anything else in the world!
- What pleases you the most?
My cute little sister's smile.
- Am I asking too many personal or strange questions?
Personal, perhaps. Strange? Somewhat. More than anything, I fail to see reason for such questions in the first place. I've a lot to do, so I'll be taking my leave now. I'm sure you understand.
[Third Person]
Edward Middleford did not like Ciel Phantomhive.
It wasn’t an unknown fact really - his mother, father and even his younger sister were aware of his dislike for the boy. It was rather obvious, the way he frowned when Elizabeth would make mention of him, the way he’d cross his arms in disapproval or chided her alongside his mother for her overtly open displays of affection toward Ciel Phantomhive. However, what was more discerning to Edward was the way his sister would weep over the boy, fall into a gloom sometimes when she’d return from visiting him. Whether they were tears of joy or sadness, Elizabeth Middleford cried over Ciel far too much for Edward’s liking.
It was frustrating to be the one who was supposed to protect her at all costs. That had been his duty after all, ever since she’d been born, a bundle of chubby cheeks and giggling joy. He was to be her knight, her escort and her keeper, someone who she could depend on for anything and everything. Yet as times changed, as he grew older and it was no longer acceptable to do certain things, it was his own fault that he’d put a slight distance between himself and his sister. There were no more times of playing out in the yard, running about to slay invisible dragons only to save the captured princess and return home with her on his back in time for afternoon tea. There were no more childish games of hide and seek or showing off in front of her the new piano pieces he’d have practiced diligently under the tutor’s strict watch. There was none of this any longer, simply because the whims and carelessness of childhood had been quickly and thoroughly stripped away by his mother and father.
Yes, Edward Middleford was a man - a young one, but a man no doubt. He’d accepted the responsibilities he’d been bestowed with without complaint, attended various socials and did his best to be the perfect gentleman. He’d sworn himself to not be childish, to be calm and composed on the trip he was taking with his family, but as soon as he heard Elizabeth squeal, latching herself over his cousin the moment they met the boy and his butler on the Campania, all hope for self restraint was lost. There was no way he’d recognize the boy as his brother-in-law, especially now and he let Ciel know. Loudly. Being forced to be in the child’s presence was just as grating as Elizabeth fawned over him, asking him to escort her to the dance - something that was his duty. Not Ciel’s. It didn’t matter. He’d be tagging along anyway, certainly.
It was depressing really, to watch his sister light up so easily at the sight of him while back home Edward had to struggle to cheer her up, dote in a way that wasn’t simply giving her a new dress or pair of shoes. It was an older brother’s duty, his duty to look out for her, to make sure no man would ever hurt her or make her cry, and yet Ciel Phantomhive made tears roll down her cheeks on more than one occasion. How could she love him so much? How could she forgive him?
Edward couldn’t - and he wouldn’t. Not until Ciel Phantomhive proved to him personally that he was worthy of his sister’s dainty, little hand.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] I think it'd simply be a lot of fun! There are a lot of characters I'd like to have Edward interact with and just in general, I've been wanting to play him in a game where I could develop him and have him grow. I thought Somarium would be good for that!
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] The be active rule! Too many times people sit on characters and do nothing with them. I think the activity check requirements are pretty fair too.
[Where did you hear about Somarium?] Through friends that play here!
[Any questions?] Nope!
