Minatsuki is a deadman; someone who is able to manipulate their own blood to form a weapon. This is called a "Branch of Sin". Minatsuki's branch of sin is called whip wing, formed by blood from her ears (where she rips her earrings out), and allows the blood to drip down to her hair, creating whips that can grip, cut, rip, tear-- the whole kablam.

Weapons: Her hair.

History&Personality.
Character History:

It all started when Minatsuki was about seven. Living a normal life in Tokyo with her pretty average family. Pretty damn normal. Yet, on a quiet day, a terrible earthquake broke the silence with terror. People ran for cover, screams of horror sounded from each and every way, parents shielded their children. Many simply ran, others got crushed anyway--

Including Minatsuki's mom.

But you know what? What else would a mother deserve if she let go of her own child's hand during those seconds of disaster? From a mother... that's selfish. That's cruel, letting go of your child's hand to let them die while you run to reach that small chance of survival.

From that day on, Minatsuki learned how harsh humanity could be. She loved her mother. she trusted her mother-- yet, that was the day it all went downhill for her. How selfish and self-centered humans are. Once she was reunited with her father and brother, they asked "Where's your mother?" Do you know what her reply was?

"... Shopping?"

Minatsuki lied, and that was the first of many lies to come. A few years after the earthquake, here is Minatsuki, killing puppies just for the fun of it. Killing her counselors because they pissed her off. Sad, isn't it? This was when her branch of sin emerged. This was when she also killed her father for the heck of it. Chopped him up into little pieces, saw that face of fear-- oh, that face. It was delicious; like honey to her eyes.

She never regretted the murder. The little shitbag deserved every painful moment he brought upon himself, just like every ungrateful human deserved. Still, Minatsuki didn't get off the hook so easily. Instead, she was sent to a high security prison-theme park called Deadman Wonderland, where she landed herself in death row; G-ward, where other deadmen like herself hang around.

This prison is pretty fucked up. Each inmate wears a collar around their neck, which injects a lethal poison steadily into the body of the inmate. The only way to stay alive is to consume a special candy every three days, which can be received from either hard work or purchase by Cast Points. If you don't, well, you die. The end.

These Cast Points are earned by competing in competitions against other inmates. To put it simple, if you win, you live. If you actually even make it to the finals, you die anyway. These games are life threatening, and you'd be extremely lucky if you survived one. Of course, you probably lost an arm or a leg. Or both.

When Ganta Iragashi was sent to G-ward, he met Minatsuki. Like her, he was a deadman as well-- but he didn't even know what was coming before it was just too late. Minatsuki sweet-talked him into having a strong will to protect her grow. He really believed all the crap she was pulling, because that's what Minatsuki does. She lies pretty damn well. Ganta and Minatsuki were soon paired up to fight against each other in something called the Carnival Corpse, where people with cash to spare in their pockets bet on which one will be the last one standing. The winner is awarded cast points, the candy needed to survive, and other prizes. loser is either dead (killed by the opposing deadman) or rendered immobile. If they're still alive and lose, they are sent to a lab where they get an organ (selected at random) removed for research-- sometimes while completely conscious.

Minatsuki revealed her "true self" to Ganta during this battle, and while she seemed to have the upper hand, she lost to a headbutt. This meant she had to get one of her organs removed... again. It wasn't something she was alien to, because Minatsuki has lost twice during the time she was at the prison, having lost a kidney and a part of her stomach. When she's at the lab chair, strapped down-- Yoh and Ganta, with the help of friends, change her organ of removal to hair... so that's all she lost. Her hair. That's when Minatsuki genuinely smiles and laughs to herself in relief. From here on out, her personality makes a huge change; not being all too psychotic, reconciling with her brother, Yoh, and managing to make some sort of friends.

Point in Canon: Chapter 18.

Character Personality:

Minatsuki is the perfect example of a fluffy little rabbit. With rabies. Cute, adorable, sweet little thing on the outside... disgusting, cruel, psychotic little bitch on the inside. One side of her is the cutest little thing you'll ever see: shy, friendly, frail girl just looking to make some friends. Oh, she loves flowers. Do you want to help her grow some in her garden? she'll even offer you one. She'll make you want to protect such a fragile, adorable girl. She might even share a tear jerking story or two about her past that'll only make you want to shield her from the cruel, cruel world even more.

The other side she's hiding? Sadistic, crude, manipulative, perverted, and just crazy at its best. The stories? They may be true, but the cutesy act is a complete and utter lie. Minatsuki was exposed to the harshness of humanity at a very young age-- her mother leaving her to die in an earthquake (only to get crushed herself), and her father being physically abusive towards her. It wasn't until she killed her father with her branch of sin that she learned that people are just bags of walking bullshit. After that, she has learned to trust no one, and never hold back. They're all a bunch of XXX shitbags. Humanity is cruel. Everyone is a damn liar that shouldn't be trusted. That's what landed her in prison, after all.

Minatsuki claimed that her sexual pleasure came from the look on her victim's face-- helpless. That look of betrayal once they find out what she's hiding. She'll even be giving a squealing laugh while openly stating "I'm gonna cum!".

Yet-- over that psychotic wall is the real Minatsuki. Right in between too shy and too crazy. Under those two deceptive personalities is a girl who's simply scared and closed out; having an emotional wall that built up over the years to protect herself. If you actually do come to terms with Minatsuki, she's a bit grumpy, still lashing out and still vulgar. Yet, rather intimidated by the idea of really being friends; someone she can trust. Trust is a very sensitive topic with her-- if trust is built up only to later be broken, that flips the switch and sends her spiraling into the psychotic part of her she never completely abandoned. Throughout the chapters, we see that she doesn't have a need to deceive or get off on the faces people make when they're helpless anymore (unless, of course, if it's completely necessary). Though, when things push her buttons and when people mess with her... that insane personality and murderous intent kicks in as a defense.

Messing with her is the last thing you want to do when she's actually willing to give this trust thing a try. One false move? One small hint of betrayal?

Well, that's it.
