Summary: Hobbits didn’t have such things as courting rituals - they were uncomplicated folk. They announced their affections with flowers or a cooked meal, a shared pipe or simply a kiss - and then there were meetings with both families and a date set for the wedding. Dwarves, as he kept discovering, were a completely different kettle of fish.
Why: And again, I promised myself I wouldn’t read wips, but this author is very reliable and the story updates very regularly. Anyway, I love courting fics! However, they are mostly short and their misunderstandings are very vague and focus on little snippets. THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT. It’s full of details about dwarf courting and even have little experts from a proper book! Also, there are many lovely bits with character interaction between Bilbo and other dwarves not only him and Thorin. The story is so far on chapter 3.

Why: I have such a weak resolve tbh. SUPERHERO AU DAMIT. And not in a modern world oh no. IN A MODERN MIDDLE EARTH. I am seriously shocked that I dig such stuff in this fandom. I used to be such a purist haha. Anyway, Thorin is like Batman here and Bilbo is a cat burglar and this fic seriously needs a sequel.

Summary: Battle of the Five Armies happens, Arkenstone business is settled and everyone lives - Thorin and Bilbo end up together and all is basically happily ever after save for the fact that it's hard to settle down when you're a dwarf warrior and rather lousy at the domestic side of life.
Why: more domestic fic! Yes, good. Love this piece, because it’s so laid back and hilarious and sweet. Thorin totally fails at being domestic and Bilbo has to put up with him. Precious read XD

Why: Oh jesus. I found this fic by chance on the kink meme, and I had a shitty day, that day. So I decided to read it. I howled. It’s hilarious and made me sputter, because Thorin’s hair is sentient. Just. Omg.

Why: Sometimes, when I browse the kink meme, I find a prompt which so completely ridiculous, that I just HAVE to read a fic for it. Like for example, male dwarves lactating when their female partner is pregnant. And I would already read this because it has female Bilbo and dwobbits, two things which I am addicted too. And then there is daddy Thorin and breast feeding. Bless you fandom.

Why: This fic, I was a bit reluctant to continue, because it was a bit stiff at the beginning, but decided to continue anyway. Oh boy, I am so glad I did that. It turned out to be super good and precious. The chapters were short, but still provided a lot of exposition and back ground story. And the detail! And most of it was taken from the canon, and not just made up. Lovely fic!

Why: This is a fic, which is a part of a series about genderflipped thilbo. Yes. BOTH OF THEM AS LADIES. I am not gonna rec the first fic here, because it’s smut basically and damit, I’m still not reccing smut from the hobbit ugh but this can be a standalone really. It’s Bilbo being already married to Thorin and kidnapped and there are some lovely character insights, and it’s basically a really good story with really good characterization and one of the best femslash I read. I’m happy that this is becoming a thing.

Why: another fic for the Thorin breast feeding. And besides being cute and adorable family fluff, it’s also has lovely character interaction with Dis and Fili and Kili.

That's... a very refreshing change.
Why: okay damit I hate myself. I AM SO ENAMRODED WITH THIS AU RIGHT NOW YOU HAVE NO IDEA. First it was just ewelock’s idea, then her super hot fem!Bilbo drawings in sexy lingerie and now littleblackdog writes a fic for it. I read the first chapter and then I suddenly was obsessed with this fic. LIKE YOU HAVE NO IDEA. Then, when I woke up, a second chapter was ready and I devoured it with mad delight. Gimme moreeee.
