Finnish Metal Tour / Seattle / 2.12.2011

I had lots of fun, and now I'm in lots of pain. But it was worth it. I'll make a list of interesting things in chronological order because hey, I'm that list girl.

☠ Meeting the bands was awesome. The first one I saw was Petri, suddenly he was just right in front of me. He wasn't as tall as I was expecting, but he was still taller than most of the guys there. His hair was tied back and he was wearing a bunch of camo (including a cool hat.) Skrymer wasn't there for the meeting, which made me kinda sad but I'll live. Tundra is WAY thinner than I thought he'd be. The only thing I could manage to say to him was "I like your braids." I couldn't really say anything intelligent to anybody, it was surreal just meeting them. I mostly just said hi.

☠ The last person I met was Vreth, he was there and I looked at him and said hi and he said hello, and I said it was really nice to meet him. He was the only one to touch me (he shook my hand). He was wearing a leather jacket and was gorgeous. His pointy nose (which I noticed a lot of the Finnish dudes had), his piercings, his eyes, omg you guys he grabbed my hand kdlsjdl;sjdsjhfl Later on that night I imagined my hands smelled like Vreth but I think I was just delusional from the concert.

☠ Every band member I met (basically everyone from Ensiferum and everyone but Skrymer from Finntroll) signed the back of my hoodie. I got a wicked blue and black poster of the show flyer, a Barren Earth drumstick, and setlists from Ensiferum and Finntroll.
I also got this wicked tour shirt.

☠ Injuries sustained: Luckily not many because a nice guy stood behind me and squished me so I wouldn't get decimated by the pit. There was an obnoxious stage diver (which wasn't allowed) who kicked quite a few people in the head. I have a bruise on each hip from the edge of the stage, and a bruise on my right knee. I also got bumped and scratched but those went away.

I was front and center, so here's what I noticed:
☠ Petri is not that chubby, his moobs are going away, and damn, I love his face. He has the prettiest face. He looked right at me a few times, and his eyes pierced my soul, you guys. His shins are all bruised and scarred but I love them thick legs and I wanted to touch them but didn't.

☠ Vreth sang/screamed right in my face several times. His hair hit me once when he headbanged, and-- WE FISTBUMPED. Then at the end he grabbed my hand along with the other front-row people. They had a projector to show different stuff on the background, and one looked like a star field. They showed this one during Grottans Barn (one of my favorites, I sang along through the whole song.) and Vreth had stars on his face and shoulders, it looked fucking epic. One time he got close to me, I stuck my arms up and had one hand on either side of his head without touching him. It was like a personal-space hug.

☠ When Skrymer came on stage, he tripped on something. It made them seem more... like people and not entities because they could fuck up like normal people. WHATEVER, OKAY, SKRYMER TRIPPING IS ADORABLE. He didn't stumble or anything, just kept going.

☠ So the first two bands were from Seattle, I think (or at least the first one was.) They were good, and really fast and heavy. Barren Earth was spectacular and very folk-metal-y, Rotten Sound was fast, loud and unintelligible but great nonetheless. Everyone flipped their shit for Ensiferum, and they played really well. Unfortunately it was impossible for me to see up Petri's kilt without it being really obvious what I was doing. Finntroll blew me away, it was so amazing to see them LIVE OMG IN FRONT OF ME THEY'RE REAL and they played old and new songs. Trollhammaren came on and the pit went insane. I was crushed in a really uncomfortable position for all of Finntroll's set and my neck is killing me today.

So yeah, that's all I have to report. If videos or pictures turn up I'll add them :D
This is basically what it looked like. The venue is the same (El Corazon in Seattle), it's just from 2010.

HOLY SHIT THAT CONCERT WAS SEVEN HOURS OF AWESOME. Even when it felt like I was gonna pass out cause I couldn't move and I hurt and it was hotter than the surface of the sun in there. The smoke machine... smoke tasted like frosting and chemicals, haha. It was bizarre. But it was worth the 84 bucks total and the five hours of driving. Soooo worth it.

The End! /sleeps for twelve hours

everything is awesome now, picspasm, fuck yeah finntroll, adventuuurrre, music, firsts, oh happy day, omg viking boy, sleepy time
