Summary: “Right! I give up! You win!”

“Shin…”

Nao fidgeted uncomfortably on the couch, hands alternating between rubbing restlessly against his thighs or the cushions he was sitting on.

Shin was pointedly ignoring him.

Nao knew it.

“Shin.” Perhaps a bit more urgency in his voice might get the guitarist’s attention.

No such luck, apparently. Nothing but a blank, emotionless stare. It could have at least been directed at him.

Nao sat forward on the couch, resting his elbows on his knees for a total of four seconds before getting bored with the position and leaning back against the cushions again. As long as he didn’t look at the screen, he would be fine.

Don’t look at the screen.

Akiya wandered past behind them, water bottle in hand, and tapped Nao on the shoulder as he stopped to lean his free hand on the back of the couch.

“What are you watching?”

Nao scowled, crossing his arms as he dropped his head back to look up at his friend. “Porn, I swear.”

Akiya’s eyebrows rose, his face turning a little pink, but was saved from a response when Shin muttered, “It’s not porn.”

Nao rose his eyebrows too as Akiya’s went higher, yet still he refused to look at the screen. Suddenly Akiya made a choking sound, and Nao could’ve sworn he felt a few drops of water on his cheek.

“Hey, isn’t that -?”

“Yes, it is,” Nao interrupted, wiping his cheek in barely-concealed disgust.

Akiya cast a confused look between Nao and Shin. “So… why…?” His eyes went very wide. “Is he -?”

Nao glared. “Go away.”

Akiya stuttered a little more, then cleared his throat awkwardly as the sudden silence stretched out, and stood up perfectly straight. “Right! I’m, uh, going then… Don’t tell Isshi what you’re watching - we all know what a closet pervert he is.”

Nao snorted at Akiya’s retreating back, eyes still firmly fixed on the ceiling. “Hah. I think the fact that ‘we all know’ cancels out the ‘closet’ part of that.”

Akiya’s hand rose in a vague gesture of acknowledgement and farewell, unseen to both men on the couch, and then they were alone again, and Shin put his studious face back on while Nao resumed his constant, uncomfortable shifting.

“Seriously, Shin, why are we watching this?”

Nao thought, a full two minutes later, that any hope of even the most vague of answers was long gone, when Shin repeated under his breath, “It’s not porn.”

Nao groaned loudly in frustration, finally choosing to look when -

“What are they doing?”

Shin rolled his eyes. “Working the crowd up.”

“They’re working themselves up!”

The small guitarist sighed loudly, his only response being to turn up the volume, filling the small room with the sound of a predominantly female audience screaming their tiny lungs out at the display.

Porn, Nao thought. Definitely porn. No other word for it.

He closed his eyes to black it out, but the image was still in his head, burned into his retinas for damn near life. And then he head that voice -

“Shin. Turn it off. It’s weird to watch it when they’re recording downstairs, anyway.”

“But I like this song.”

“No you don’t,” Nao almost growled through gritted teeth. He could see Shin wrinkling his nose in his mind’s eye as he said, “No, you’re right. Not one of their best. The intro is funny though.”

Nao shook his head in complete disbelief of this totally evil side Shin was revealing to him, and clenched his fists over his knees, deciding enough was enough, and he really couldn’t take - well, maybe watching the intro would be okay. Because, really, he did have a very nice voice, and - nonono. Not good.

He stood up, arms waving in the air and expression twisted into that of total distress as he looked down helplessly at Shin - who was trying desperately not to laugh.

“Right! I give up! You win!”

Shin glanced up at him, completely innocent curled up in his corner of the couch, elbow propped up on the armrest, before returning to his previous activity of the past hour and a half - staring at the television.

Nao dragged a hand restlessly though his hair, eyes searching around wildly for the remote. The second he spotted it, he pounced, turning off the screen with a triumphant cry as he collapsed back onto the couch. Shin drew up a knee in front of him, as if protecting himself from the bassist as he put both hands firmly on the couch arm either side of Shin’s body, effectively trapping him.

“Look, I’m sorry I kindofmaybemight’vehalf-spilled on Kai’s radio show, but just because I happened to mention in passing that Reita was attractive when we first met them all, doesn’t -“

“And that he has a sexy voice.”

“That too, yes, but it still -”

“And that you’d jump him in a second if given the chance.”

“Yes, well - I did not say that!”

Shin laughed into his hand at Nao’s indignant expression. “Okay, I made that one up.”

“Anyway, you cheat, just because I said all that, doesn’t mean you can sit here innocently and make me watch that while you completely ignore me as payback.”

Shin tilted his head, obviously confused and not faking it. “Payback?”

“Yes, payback, and don’t you -“

“Wait, wait, wait,” Shin cut him off, putting one hand on Nao’s chest. “What are you talking about?”

Nao mimicked Shin’s earlier action and tilted his head in confusion. “You don’t know? Then - what?”

Shin had the decency to blush a little at the situation they found themselves in, and averted his eyes as he mumbled, “I thought… well…”

Nao sighed. “You thought it would be funny, didn’t you? Just to watch me squirm, right?”

Shin bit his lip, trying to stop the smile as Nao rolled his eyes and bumped his forehead against his own. “You’re an idiot, Shin.”

The guitarist shrugged and pushed against Nao’s chest with the hand resting there in a failed attempt to get him to sit back. Nao stayed right where he was, eyebrows raised as he gave Shin a look that said, ‘Oh, honestly’.

“Back to the original question, Nao,” Shin said firmly. “What did you spill?”

Nao swallowed nervously, eyebrows pushing together in his usual show of uneasiness, and made a breathy sound that vaguely resembled “Ah, well you see, it’s like this,” only said in .3 of a second.

Shin narrowed his eyes.

Nao looked though his fringe at him, looking for all the world like a three year old who broke his mum’s favourite necklace and tried to blame it on the dog. “Well, Kai was -“

But Shin was giving him the same look that the mother would give, the tell-the-truth-now-or-there’ll-be-hell-to-pay look. Except Shin’s had more of a there’ll-be-no-sex-for-a-week quality about it that made it all the more intimidating.

“Well, I was, you see, I was with Kai and Izumi, and…”

Shin’s glare darkened, telling him to continue or he’d bump it up to two weeks.

“I might’ve said that, uh, that I sort of might like you… just a little…” Nao mumbled.

Shin lifted an eyebrow, trying not to laugh at his partner. “Well if you’d maybe sort of said that we were kind of just a little bit in love with each other, then -“

Nao cleared his throat nervously.

“Three weeks,” Shin said shortly.

Nao’s expression changed to one of total shock, and he opened his mouth to protest.

“A month if you whinge about it.”

Nao shut his mouth with a nap, shaking his head. He still looked like he was bursting to say something though, despite his desperate efforts to hold it in, and Shin took momentary pity on him, nodding his head as if giving the other permission to talk.

“I’m so sorry! I know you didn’t want it to get out for obvious reasons, but I couldn’t help it. The guys were joking about it and it sort of slipped out but I didn’t mean it and they all covered it up pretty well and - I love you?”

Shin crossed his arms, lifting his chin defiantly. It wasn’t helping his not-so-strong resolution that Nao was hovering above him, trapping Shin with his arms and causing the guitarist’s mind to wander to something along the lines of what he’d just denied his partner for a time frame he probably couldn’t even keep to himself.

Nao wriggled above Shin in frustration, making the guitarist’s breath catch in his throat. “You couldn’t even do a month, Shin. Be realistic.”

“I could,” Shin forced out, hands tightening their hold on his own arms so they didn’t reach out. “Just to spite you.”

Nao sighed, half a second away from giving in and dropping his arms from where they supported him and trapped Shin, when he was cut across again.

“But you’re lucky that show put me in a particularly forgiving mood, otherwise you know I’d do it,” Shin smirked.

Nao dropped his head onto Shin’s shoulder in sheer relief, smirking himself when Shin’s arms curled about his neck and his knees rose to grip around his waist.

“I always knew you had a thing for Ruki,” he grinned.

Shin’s face went bright red. “I don’t -“

Nao lifted his head to raise a disbelieving eyebrow.

Shin glared, pulling him forwards for a bruising kiss.

“Shut up.”
------

These mentions of Reita/Nao and Ruki/Shin are purely as a joke between these two. I'm not sugesting they actually do like the others or anything.

Whoa, I'm producing like, story vomit in this week before school starts again, haha. There's more to come, trust me. Hope you enjoyed!
