Fanart: Harry Potter - Reparations/Foundations [HPDM]

Feb 25, 2010 14:48

So I, like many others, got sucked in to saras_girl's Foundations!verse, and have been working on these fanarts pretty much since I started reading them. I have black and white versions as well as colour, but I'm really not so great at Photoshop, so all colour is really simple.
I draw in the anime/manga style primarily, because it works for me and I'm not ( Read more... )

Erm. Okay. LJ's being a wanker, so I hope this actually works.

That would be the best. study. ever. Do it. Please. o.o
Oh oh that reminds me - did you know someone actually wrote a book on slash fanfiction and it's fangirls? No I'm not kidding. It was some professional study, and it's this fully detailed book about why slash fics and their basically PWP nature are so popular XD It's brilliant! I really wanted to do it for a sociology project, but had a hard time convincing my teacher that it'd be a worthwhile research topic... :D

But that is a potentially hazardous situation you've got there. Perhaps you should... I don't know, not listen to porn in the car. Lest you have an accident. Baha, that'd be a good excuse. Instead of being drunk you'd be caught with audio porn >D

Oh man, surprise!tests suck. So do surprise!shifts at work on your day off. Grr. Haha, I have to translate stuff for my parents sometimes too, it's great. And I love that feeling when you're watching some medical show and can go 'oh I TOTALLY know what they're talking about' XD
I hope your Dad's operation goes okay!! And that you got enough sleep to actually be able to translate medical mumbo. You might, I dunno, give them completely irrelevant translations that lead to... something disastrous. I don't know. My brain was fried by an 11 hour shift with no break. Thoughts aren't connecting.

Oh but crashing on the parent's couch sounds like heaven. I just moved out, interstate, and - and - *wants familiar couch* XP

I know people do mini!studies on us at universities all the time, and ask for input on various forums, but I've never seen anything finished! If you happen to recall the book or author, I'd love to check it out and see if I agree with their conclusions.

I'd love to have had the excuse to do something like that in school. Not too many chances in molecular cell biology, as you could guess, but 90% of my poems for my stupid poetry elective last semester were about some aspect of fandom--one was House, one was Star Trek!reboot, one was ER. It was pretty hilarious, because I know the teacher didn't catch any of the references (and the ST one was pretty blatant), because she really liked them. I've always been interested in the psychology behind things, but our school has a shitty psych department or I'd try to get in there to do some kind of awesome girls-who-like-boys-who-like-boys study.

But yes. Hee, in my defense, I was also really tired that day, so that was probably more of it than the porn, but there's nothing that wakes you up while driving more if your attention had begun to slip from the rest of the story than the word 'cock' really loudly over your car stereo. (Though it seems to be almost a universal phenomenon that readers get quieter during sex scenes--I know I did it, especially when I was still at home and trying to make sure nobody else heard, LOL.)

And I love that feeling when you're watching some medical show and can go 'oh I TOTALLY know what they're talking about'
Medical shows are my favorite for that reason! They have enough decent medical information that I don't cringe from the pain (new show Flashforward, I'm talking about you), and especially when I was younger, it was nice to hear words pronounced that I'd just read in books before. ER was better than House for figuring things out because since House's cases are so weird, even knowing everything about a particular disease might not let you identify it from the symptoms because the symptoms tend not to fit exactly or else it wouldn't be a mystery, but sometimes that makes it even better when you beat them to the diagnosis.

Do you do a sciencey type thing/major, or do you just know stuff? Have many skills, as I would put it?

And yeah, things were good. We're running around the house trying to get the things done that they had on the list to do over spring break, which now can't happen because Dad'll be only a week out of the hospital by then. So less heaven than I had hoped, LOL, but still nice. They recently got puppies, which is always awesome.

I definitely know what you mean re: wanting a familiar couch. I'm only 3 hours away and in the same state though opposite sides of it, and it's weird because neither place really feels like home anymore--my parents' house is kind of weird because I'm not there most of the time, but on the other hand, I've lived in that house my entire life, so even going back to it occasionally is enough to make me imprint on it again or something, you know? I can't imagine how little kids with divorced parents and multiple homes deal, because it plays with my head more than a little.

Okay, so not necessarily SLASH fanfiction, but it's still hilarious. And has a good deal of 'homoerotic novels and why they're so popular' in there XD

Please don't reject that, LJ, or I will have to get mad, and I'm too tired for that.

Oh man, that is SO brilliant about your poems. Poor daft teacher, though. *snort* Pity about the psych department, though! My school was relatively well-known for it's arts and it's psych program, but I was never really interested in the actual psych stuff. Just the... mentality of fangirls XD

BAHAHA. That'd be a wakeup call for sure. But t'd be embarrassing if - OH. We were at work at the boss was away, so - naturally - we put music on after closing while we were still cleaning up, and my friend plugged my external hard drive straight into the sound system and we were just going to listen to whatever was on there on random. But of course, the first one that crops up is "Reparations, by Sara's Girl..." and I'm like 'OOOHHH LET'S NOT LISTEN TO THAT ONE' *dives for skip button*
But was I was going to say, was that it would be embarrassing if you stopped the car mid-pr0nz, and had a friend in there when you started it up again XD
"So where are w-"
"Cock"
"I'msorrywhut?"

I'm not studying science, but I did Biology at school for my final two years (Like.. for my education certificate thing - I don't know where you're from so I don't know what you call it), and I'm doing Science at University next year, so I try to keep it all in my head. I can feel it all falling out during this year off, though... slowly but surely...
*coughs* I mean no, I'm just that cool. I have mad skillz.. *whisltes*

Oooo PUPPIES? Does that mean you get to look after them!! I had to leave my new puppy with my parents when I moved out. *sulks*

And yeah, my parents divorced when I was three so I have my Dad's house, my Mum's, and now this one. A bit of a headfuck, I can assure you, and as I'm still getting used to this place, it really is like you said. That constant feeling of limbo, like nowhere is really 'home' as such. It doesn't help that I stubbornly refuse to call this place home, purely because I don't like it and plan to move back to my home city as soon as I can.
I plan on pulling a you and re-imprinting on my old room, haha XP
