Hyun-Ah walked into the office half an hour early. Han Geng had walked her to school then continued onto his own school. Hyun-Ah had agreed to arrive early everyday so Han Geng could also get to school on time.
“Excuse me!” Hyun-Ah said, attempting to peer over the edge of the desk. A friendly looking lady looked up from her paperwork.
“Hello! Are you new?” she smiled. Hyun-Ah nodded. “What’s your name?” the woman asked patiently.
“Park Hyun-Ah.” The woman sat down again, rifling through her papers.
“Hyun-Ah… Hyun-Ah… Oh! Where were you born?” the woman asked.
“Seattle, Washington, in the US.” was the response. The receptionist (for that was what she was) nodded her head in approval.
“Good! Okay, Hyun-Ah, you’re in Ms. Chae’s class. That’s year 3, room 224.” Hyun-Ah was told. She ambled off to her classroom and sat down, waiting patiently.

“Unni! Hurry-” Hyun-Ah’s words were cut off as the soccer ball slammed into the side of her head. Junghwa watched in what felt like slow motion as Hyun-Ah crumpled to the ground.
