Greeaaat weekend. On Friday I reread all the Fullmetal Alchemist chapters I have, which made me feel happy, but I did it when I was supposed to be doing my homework. The next day I'm feeling sluggish and can't focus, and COMPLETELY forgot I was supposed to volunteer with Bella for the Kerry Campaign. I couldn't go. But what's worse is that right before I told Bella that, she said her grandmother in Kiev had just died. That made me feel really guilty. I wish I could have gone with her and been there for her, but my mom was pretty set in my getting work done since we were going to my grandmother's on Sunday.
And gee, was that fun. We went to Kohl's so my bro could pick out clothes, since it is his b-day on Wednesday, and I found some cute shirts, but could only get two. That part was fun, though. But when we got to my grandmother's house...
My aunt, uncle, grandmother and I were talking about where I was looking for colleges. My grandmother mentioned that my dad had gotten a full scholarship to LaSalle (sp?), but turned it down because he wanted a college with better science facilities. I hadn't known this, and said as much. Her response was that my brother and I really didn't know my father at all. He was working, we were at school, and we never had time to sit around and talk. And now he was gone.
Nice, huh?
Totally untrue as well. We *did* talk, but my brother was 14 and I was 11 when he died, so we didn't talk about stuff like college. We spent a lot of time together. And even if it was true, way to make me feel like crap. I know she didn't intend to be mean; she's old, and doesn't realize the affect of her words. She sometimes lapses into this moods where she laments the death of my father to me. Um, thanks, but I miss him enough already.
I went outside for a few minutes, and when I came back in she was telling my 9-year-old cousin Matt what Gemini was. Since my dad was born under the sign of Gemini, she concluded that he was actually two people, and asked my brother if he had ever noticed that dad had two personalities. He said he hadn't, and she said that since he (my brother) is older now, he would notice that sort of thing.
...yeah.
