...I know I should be working on
paperlegends and I've got a sequel story to write, but I find myself writing Kinematics again. Maybe because I took up Hope's character in roleplay again (which really shouldn't get me interested in writing since I play Gwaine, too, c'mon), but I went back and re-read my Kinematics stories and... well, I really liked the start of AE (I can't even spell my own title, whut).
And I really want to change FFXIII-2. I realized what made me so disappointed in it, other than the fact that, yanno, the timelines broke and everyone left Hope. He's my bb, okay? I wanted him to grow up happy and animated.
So he grew up and turned out to be really handsome and genius smart and successful and famous and probably rich and just about everything else. Whatever. No, I said it before that it somehow made me sad. I don't really care about all of that.
He doesn't laugh. He pulls away when people touch him. He just--
It frustrates me. In the first game, he gets hugged by just about everyone. He gets his hair ruffled, arms slung around his shoulders, and he actually clings to people. Sure, he's awkward about it but he looked like he was about ready to accept all that affection by the end. At the beginning of the game, Vanille hugs him and he kind of... shrugs her off. He pushed Snow away and steps away when Sazh goes to comfort him. By the end, he's hugged Sazh, holds Vanille's hand when she's upset, and smiles when Snow's being affectionate. (Do I even need to mention Lightning here since her example is so obvious?)
It was such an improvement. But then they disappeared and Hope just... clammed up. You don't know how upset I was when Serah and Noel asked him about the traveling to the future thing and about how he would be leaving all his loved ones behind, and Hope just (so calmly) answers, "I had no one to leave behind."
No. No.
Kinematics is my universe where no matter what shit comes down their way, they all stay together and no one gets left behind. Least of all my baby.
I just feel like I need to write it right now, and somehow incorporate bits of FFXIII-2 in there. Like... how things started. The calendar system. The Academy. Without Lightning disappearing, Snow leaving Serah behind, or Sazh and Dahj ending up in Serendipity.
