To WiP or not to WiP
That's a bad question for me. I don't WiP as a rule. So perhaps I should say "to abandon or not to abandon". Or to put off to write a new story. I have lots of stories bouncing in my head that need kicking around. Right now, I'm really focused on finishing my bangs. Erm, okay, that's a lie. I should be focused. Instead I'm procrastinating. But still! There will be life after May, and writing will happen, I swear. >:[ SO. I need to think about what will spew onto the page.
This is mostly me pouring my brain onto the page. Don't mind me! :D
Note that this doesn't include prompts, drabbles and comment fic, since those tend to be flash-ficcy. Spoilers ahoy! Also, Bangs not counting, since they are done and only need beta work.
In no particular order...
Alone in my head.doc: Tony-focused, Steve's PoV. Linked to Digital Wonderland and Walk the Desert, which I now see I forgot to upload, likely due to formatting issues. Whoops. It's another Tony & Extremis thing, because I am very one-note. To summarize, Steve comes back and Tony (understandably) thinks he's gone crazy. Since the last time he went crazy, Bad Thing Happened, he does the "right" thing and shuts himself down. Steve dons VR and goes in after him. Quote:"Stop playing games. It's your life!"
"You say that like it's worth something." The smile didn't change, but suddenly Steve didn't find it as charming anymore. Tony looked up at him through his girlishly thick lashes, without a hint of shame. "We both know what I'm good for: a good party and a good fuck. You might as well take 'em while they last, or someone else will."
This one is on the chopping block because... well, like I said, one note! I do love my visuals with it, and I like playing with logic in a "through the looking glass" sort of way. Plus, it seems sad to abandon 15k. But it's very melodramatic and whiny. IDK.
Balls.txt: Set in Earth 3490. Long story short, it's before Steve knows Natasha is Iron Man, and would delve into the potentially horrific side of what can happen to a woman when she's kidnapped and held by terrorists. Yeah. "That's it. And she already got her revenge. Tossed me to the mat in the gym." Pride prickled at his side. He didn't want Jan to think he'd kjust let Toni beat him. "Then I pinned her, she knocked me upside the head and stormed off."
This is... Hm. I want to do this, because it is Srs Fic about Srs Bsns, and I love exploring the "for want of a Y-chromosome" differences in a hypermasculine character. But I admit, I go D: at the thought of that particular research. Uncomfortable subject is uncomfortable. Plus, I have almost nothing written in it. Snippets is all.
Pern-avengers.txt: This is actually a sequel to the story (kh-pern.txt) that spawned the Gold Rider!Tony AU. At this point, I have no idea what to consider all of that, except insane. T'ony jerked awake, the unknown dragon's scream still ringing in his head. It bounced off of his hangover, ricocheted down to his churning stomach and slammed back into his skull. In the bed next to him, the farmholder girl he'd spent the night with shifted and sighed, barely at all disturbed.
The downside to writing this, beyond the afore-mentioned insanity, is that it's technically the third part. The first hasn't been posted yet, and the second focuses entirely on someone else (S'ora and R'oxas). I am slipping out of KH fandom, but I still love this particular AU verse. But again with the one-note. (handwaves) Worse, people who don't recognize all of the fandoms may not read the ones where the focus is elsewhere (so someone in Marvel may not read the KH-based original, and vice verse), which will make for confusion and frustration. Huffle.
TwoSkies.txt: Is not getting a blockquote, because it's PWP and I'm at work. *g* This is shameless PWP too. Kingdom hearts, cloned Sora. See above with falling out of KH for "don't really know why I should go on". I blame cap_ironman. I'm pretty well unknown in KH, whereas in Marvel fandom I have people to squee with. Squee makes the fangirl go.
XII_breakout: Predictable, this is Final Fantasy XII. This one was... Hm. Interesting. It's actually written twice as an experiment. The first is third-person, the second I went in and changed pronouns to first. I'm still not sure which one is better. (sweatdrop) I hate first person as a rule (it's HARD, damn it!), but not liking something doesn't mean times don't come when it's really needed for the story (ohai comics BB). "I am an emperor, Vaan. That often requires that I do unsavory things. So yes, I am considering 'signing a deal with those nuts'."
I have no valid reason to not post this. None. Except that 1) needs beta and 2) not sure which form works best. oO I'm indecisive. Sue me. (Please don't.)
That ends it for actual WiPs. I had less than I thought. Now, for VALTYR (Variously Acquired Literary Thoughts Yukking Randomly). None of these have words attached to them yet, but they are floating around my brain. PH3AR.
Tony Writes Fanfic: Pretty much what it says on the cover. 1610 Tony's therapist suggests creative therapy. Tony starts writing RPF, with himself as the ridiculously OOC Marty Stu main character. Eventually, turns to RPS with himself and Steve. (For the record, I would totally write cap_ironman into this. This cannot end well. This story would be connected to...
Darth Steve: This is would be the story where Tony slips into slash. See if you can spot the OOC. Tony is a young Jedi, fresh in his knighthood, innocent, pure and chaste. Steve is a former and legendary Jedi Knight, who was frozen in carbonite long ago, back before the council petrified into what it is now, when love and passion were considered powerful tools. Naturally, when he was unfrozen and his crazy idea about love being okay came to light, he was painted as evilevilbadwrongSith. He managed to escape, and catching him to keep his crazy from spreading is Tony's first assignment. I would need to actually read Star Wars to write this.
Kitten: 1610 Tony is adopted by an adorable kitten. Steve and Kitten get into a (literal) pissing contest, which eventually results in Steve "marking" Tony and (of course) porn. This is all a dastardly plot by Kitten, who thinks Tony is a female and who wants to breed Tony. In Kitten's opinion, Tony is sadly not very bright, because Tony keeps trying to breed with with wrong gender. (It's the cologne and alcohol confusing things.) Steve is a good choice for a breeding male, after all. Look at his conformation, and all that bright plumage!
Ults Pern: Another on that is exactly what it says on the tin. Tony is a Lord Holder. Steve and Jan are Weyrleaders. Stuff happens, wherein Tony makes himself readily available whenever there happens to be a mating flight. I'm sure there's a plot here somewhere!
The sequel to Dying for a Drink: Because I set it up for a sequel, I know roughly the main plot, and I had a ridiculous amount of fun writing that story the first time. But I'm a bit burned out on long stories that take months to post. I want to write shorter ones for a while. D:
Sharron: Raise your hand if you are D: D: D: D: about what's happening to Sharon in 616. Me too. I really, really want to go in and just... fix it. Give her a chance to break down, to be angry, to scream and cry and tell Steve she needs time. So this would be 100% catharsis fic. But again with uncomfortable topics being uncomfortable. Also, it would require me catching up with current canon re: Sharon and Steve. I'm not sure I can do that without punching a wall, and I like my walls.
OtherWorld: The pre/se-quel too Betwixt. (handwaves) I'm not even sure what I want to do in that 'verse, except that I want to expand it. It was way too much fun to turn everything on its head. I'd like to do that again.
