Welcoming (Lost Galaxy/Power Rangers, K)

Oct 24, 2008 22:02

I has happy day that includes postings and happy comments and getting off work two hours early and free chocolate and fluffy fics.

So, to share my happy feelings, I wrote another Puppy Pile.

Fandom/: Power Rangers Lost Galaxy
Pairings/: Hints of Leo/Kai
Rating/: K
Disclaimer/: I would like a Leo of my very own, so I could watch him randomly start stripping and send him off to play with Kai. But sadly, Saban and Disney won't give me one. -Sulks-
Summary/: Mike gets a welcome home greeting he wasn't expecting.
Author's Notes/: Written for starandrea's Puppy Pile Matching Meme. The PlotBunnies started multiplying and turning rapid earlier today, and this of the ones that bit me and wouldn't let go until it was satisfied. Leo's middle name is a reference to my other Mike fic, Stars Untouched.

This is set the night after Mike was ‘brought back to life‘.

It was strange, he reflected, having his brother burrowed against his side. Leo hadn't wanted to cuddle like this in ... well, years. Possibly more than he cared to think about.

Not that he was exactly complaining.

"So we're okay now?" he asked softly, unable to keep the thought to himself.

Leo glanced up and smiled faintly. "Yeah. We're okay."

He wrapped his arms around his little brother instinctively, trying not to let out the contented sigh he felt come over him. "Missed you, little brother," he murmured.

"Just promise me you won't tell the others my name," Leo grumbled, but there was no real annoyance to it.

He smiled faintly, playing with his brother's hair. "Sure thing, Leo." He glanced at him again as Leo seemed to situate himself again. "You all right?"

"Hmm? Oh. Fine. Just making room."

"Room?" he echoed, confused.

"For the team," Leo explained. "They knew I wanted to talk to you alone, but now that we're done, they'll be coming in to go to bed."

He couldn't help the skeptical tone to his voice. "They will?"

Leo sat up a little to give him an odd look, then understanding seemed to dawn. "That's right. You don't know the team."

He frowned. "Of course I do."

"No, you know Kai and Kendrix and Damon. And you met Maya," Leo explained. "There's a difference."

He tried to give him an odd look, but Leo was already snuggling under his chin again. He sighed to himself and figured that like many things associated with Leo, sometimes it was just better not to ask. It caused less headaches.

There was a soft knock on the door. It opened before he even had time to process the sound, and suddenly he found Maya laying down on his other side, smiling peacefully. "You've resolved what you needed to?" she asked, and something in her tone seemed to say that she already knew the answer.

"You wouldn't have come in if we hadn't," Leo retorted, but it was more playful than anything. "And since when do you knock?"

As if to prove his point, the door opened once again, this time without the preceding knock. Kai joined them much in the same way Maya had, as though he was simply expected to be there. But for some reason, he made a point of crawling across Leo, who grunted, to take the place between Leo and the wall. Then he threw an arm over Leo's waist, glancing up with an expression that dared someone to say something about it.

Mike fought the urge to do just that; he was getting more like Leo every day.

Kendrix came in without knocking as well, but she arrived with what looked like the largest pile of blankets he'd ever seen. And then she began to unfold it, and he realized it wasn't a pile, but a single giant, rainbow-colored quilt. Rather blatantly rainbow to be honest, and he tried not to think about that as she tossed one end over them all.

Kai caught his end, tugging it around behind him to make sure he was completely covered.

"Should I roll over, so you don't get cold?" Leo mumbled, sounding amused.

"You wouldn't," Kai retorted.

Leo seemed to consider that for a moment. "Nah. Probably not."

Kai humphed, and he could hear Kendrix giggling as she crawled under the quilt to snuggle in between him and Maya. He put an arm around her without thinking about it, then adjusted as Maya curled up against her back. She smiled up at him in gratitude, and Kendrix laid her head on his shoulder, facing Leo.

"Stupid interns," Damon grumbled as the door closed behind him. "Taking up all my time to ask stupid questions they should already - "

"You're late," Kai interrupted him, sounding smug. "Last one in."

Damon groaned loudly. "Are you kidding me? Again? Come on, it's not my fault! Why can't we trade off or something?"

"Last one in takes care of the alarm and makes the coffee," came Kendrix's amused voice from somewhere around his right side. "You know the rules, Damon."

There was a lot of grumbling, and eventually he saw Damon crawl under the quilt to wrap his arms around Maya. One of Kendrix’s arms went back so she could squeeze his hand, and he wondered how she could possibly be comfortable trying to sleep like that. Because evidently, that's what they were expecting to do.

Dog piling wasn't something he'd ever imagined Leo being comfortable with. He found he personally kinda liked it, though. And it was comfortably warm, which was an added bonus. And of course, anything that got him laying beside two beautiful women and his brother actually within arms' reach the next time he decided to do something stupid couldn't be all bad.

"Welcome home, Mike," he heard Leo say.

He smiled drowsily, the warmth and closeness and feeling of being *alive* seeping though him. "Thanks, Sunshine."

There was a pause, and he stirred a little, suddenly feeling like something was wrong.

" ... Sunshine?" Kendrix asked, sounding amused.

"Dude, your middle name is *Sunshine*?" Damon demanded incredulously.

"What's wrong with Sunshine?" Maya asked, sounding curious. "I think it's pretty."

"Mike, I am going to *kill* you," Leo growled against his chest.

"Oops?" he offered sleepily.

The last thing he heard as he finally drifted off was the sound of Kai's snickers.
