For Kim

Jun 12, 2012 23:39

Over the past couple of days, I've been ... well, brooding, for a lack of a better word. I wanted to write out my thoughts, but I haven't been able to find the words. I still can't. And then I remembered
starandrea's post. Or more specifically, her explanation for it and my reply.

(It's hard for me to say things, and you always reassure me that you hear them anyway xo)

It's not about the things you say. It's about finding people who speak the same language you do. And I hear you just fine. ♥

So I started gathering song lyrics, or parts of them, that voiced what I was thinking. I spent a lot of time browsing
psyco_chick32's journals, and reading the comments people had left each other about the news over and over. Parts of conversations came back to me, and I started going through her twitter and my Yahoo conversation histories.

The next thing I knew, I had opened Paint Shop Pro.

The first of these is a collage of Kim. Things that remind me of her, mixed with things she said over the time I knew her. It was a lot of fun to make, to the point that I caught myself looking forward to her reaction to it before I realized ...

Well, that wasn't the point anyway.

Kim's Collage

When I finished it I was satisfied with the result, but I didn't feel as better about things I'd been hoping to. I was still reading over everything I could find, trying to memorize everything I can about her. And another comment struck me, this one in response to my post about the message I'd left on the Power Rangers Facebook page:

That's a really beautiful tribute, and the link you gave to her close friend was very sweet, too. *HUG*

It took me awhile to realize that what was bothering me about it is the word 'tribute'. Thank You isn't a tribute to Kim. It's a thank you to the people who are the reason I knew her. It I was going to make a tribute to her, a *real* tribute, I was going to ...

Make this, apparently.*

* All words and comments have been taken from other journals. If anyone sees something they had said that they would prefer not to be used, please PM me and I'll remove it for you; no explanations necessary.
