The Point
So I replied to a comment lunaria_kitty left me earlier today, and then I realized something.
... Why didn't I tell myself this earlier?
So now I'm posting it for me, and leaving it at the top of my journal so that it will stare at me every time I load the page. Maybe it will help. Maybe not. But that's not the point, is it?

You know, I almost didn't do NaNo this year because I *ALWAYS* fail for some reason or another? And then I thought about why I wanted to do it.
I realized I don't want to write 50,000 words in a month. (Well, I do, but.) I just want to *write*. I have an awesome story in my head and I want to tell it.
I've been counting my words each day and adding them up because of the challenge rosabelle made for the year, and because it interests me to see how much I write or don't write during months where I'm particularly stressed. So I've already been counting, so I might as well just go ahead and put them towards NaNo, right? Why not?
But that's not why I decided to sign up. I signed up because I want to write. I'm not going to win, but I'm going to write. And that's what matters.
Don't join because everyone's doing NaNo and it's fun to encourage each other. Join if you have a story you want to tell. And then write it! Who cares how many words it is? Some of the most awesome stories I've ever read were a *lot* less than 50,000 words. All that matters is that you have fun writing an awesome story. ♥
