I had the most AWESOME dream.
Sora from Kingdom Hearts was bouncing between realities. In one, he was like he is in the game, y'know, being a hero and using keyblades and traveling to different worlds and saving the day and whatnot. And in the other, he was this normal kid, living with his parents, who had an overactive imagination because Kingdom Hearts wasn't real. But he kept insisting that it *was*. The only thing that seemed to be consistent between the two worlds was his name, and that he was the genetically-created child of Sephiroth and Cloud. (Although in both worlds he lived with foster parents.)
And then Cloud, who was still like, Midgar's Cloud, came to talk to Sora while Sephiroth distracted all their friends with some mission to try and save the world. And Seifer was involved with helping Sephiroth, because they kept switching places, but I don't know why. But Cloud shows up and Sora was waking up from his 'other reality' so he's all sleepy and cute and blinks up at Cloud, saying "Mommy ... ?"
Cloud's all teary-eyed and trying to not get upset, because Sora really *is* his kid that was created and he never knew about him until recently, but now he has to tell him the truth: Sora really *is* just an ordinary kid, and Kingdom Hearts never happened. Sora never saved the world. Then Sora starts to actually wake up and he gets all excited, because his 'Mom' is there. So he starts babbling at him all about the other world, telling him everything that happened, and Cloud interrupts and has to tell him that it wasn't real; it was never real. Sora is really just a normal kid. And Sora's staring at him, wide-eyed and starting to get teary, because he doesn't understand how it can't be real. He remembers what it was like to be a mermaid, and the feel of his scales and how to swim, and he remembers how tired he was using the keyblades at first, and how can all of that not be real?
And Axel was there as the Sephiroth to Sora's Cloud, which is weird because I've always been a Sephiroth/Cloud and Riku/Sora fan. I also literally thought 'Sephiroth to Sora's Cloud' in this dream, when he was actually more like Zack to Sora's Cloud game-wise, 'cause they were working together and Axel wasn't trying to kill him. But I think there was supposed to be a brotherly vibe between Sora and Axel, or they actually were brothers or something. I just remember Sora trying to look around for Axel and being worried when he wasn't there, 'cause he was supposed to be.
But I started waking up right as Cloud was telling Sora Kingdom Hearts wasn't real, and Sora was all teary-eyed and didn't want to believe him, and I was like 'NOOOO!!! Lemme sleep I want to see what happens!'
It was sort of like the dream I had last night, where I was in this world where Harry Potter wasn't real, and I somehow made friends with all the people who should have been the characters. (By which I mean the kids: Harry, Ron, and the Weasley twins. I *think* Hermione and Luna might have been there. I'm pretty sure Draco was.) But we were running from these people who wanted to use the others for something diabolical, and needed me to tell them what they were like in the Harry Potter world. We kept climbing security gates and locking them behind us because we were trying to steal a private jet so we could get away from them. But they caught up to us and had everybody restrained, and were threatening me to tell them about Harry Potter so they could use the information for something. I think they were trying to take over the world, but I don't remember as much now so I could be wrong.
Clearly my brain is on an alternate reality kick. I'm also pretty sure at least the Sora/Kingdom Hearts dream is a fic somewhere, and if it isn't it should be. I know there's a PR version. But Sora calling Cloud and Sephiroth his mommy and daddy was too cute, and even if Cloud was horribly OOC someone should still write that.
These dreams also tell me that when I shut up and just let my brain do what it wants instead of interrupting it to think about other things, it comes up with some pretty damn awesome ideas. Even if it only allows me to sleep for four hours at a time lately while doing this. Now I need to attempt to exploit this new discovery to write things.
Remember this, Self: SHUT UP AND LET YOUR BRAIN DO THE TALKING.
And my coffee needs to hurry up and be cold, 'cause I want caffeine. Assuming I don't crawl back into bed for a nap now that I've had my cereal and typed this up.
Also adding this, which I found as a forward in my e-mail. I'm sure it's been around before, but it made me laugh:
An old Italian gentleman lived alone in New Jersey . He wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, as the ground was hard. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:
Dear Vincent,
I am feeling pretty sad because it looks like I won't be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I'm just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.
Love,
Papa
A few days later he received a letter from his son.
Dear Papa,
Don't dig up that garden. That's where the bodies are buried.
Love,
Vinnie
At 4 a.m. the next morning, FBI agents and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left.
That same day the old man received another letter from his son.
Dear Papa,
Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That's the best I could do under the circumstances.
Love you,
Vinnie
* I am too well trained: every time I try to type the word 'hero' today, it keeps coming out as 'Heero'. I'm sure anyone else who knows/loves Gundam Wing is as amused as I am.
