30 Days of PR Meme Day 6

Oct 25, 2010 13:54

I'm feeling ... 'blah' today. Like the feeling when you kind of want to do something, but nothing that interests you, so you end up taking a nap just because there's nothing else to do? Yeah. That.

Technically snagged from prgirlsrock, but I've been eyeing it since The2ndBatgirl started it.

6-Favorite sixth Ranger
1) Surprisingly, I almost put Eric as my number one favorite sixth, but going by cannon, it took me a lot longer to like him. Cam on the other hand, I adored from the first episode. Cam wasn't even a Ranger at first, but he was still so important to the team. He was smart and snarky, and honestly, he didn't even *need* the morpher. (Plus I wasn't such a fan of the Samurai Powers period, but that's me.) But for Cam, becoming part of the team was his dream, and he *made* it. And even after he became a Ranger, he still kept up with everything he'd been doing before. I mean dude, the guy made his own cyberclone to help with his workload. He's just all-around *awesome*.

2) Yeah, I was originally on the 'OMG, Eric is such a *bastard*!' bandwagon. It took a lot to convince me to like him. Namely about the time The End of Time aired. -Grins sheepishly- He finally proved to me that he was someone I should have payed more attention to, so I went back through to study him better.

And then I tried to write him.

The more I try to see things from Eric's point of view, the more he grows on me. Like a tumor. No really, I do like the guy a lot. Yeah, he's a jerk who holds a grudge over the dumbest things like no one else, but damn, does he hold to. Wes only manages to out-stubborn Eric through sheer determination. And once he does, we finally get to see glimpses that Eric's honestly a good guy. He just doesn't like to admit to it.

It helps that he's hot. And I adore Dan Southworth, who makes me giggle lots.

3) Zhane. Oh, Zhane. You know, he was kind of obnoxious in cannon. But like with Eric, I took the time to try and understand him. And now I love his sense of humor, his tendency to make light of things that aren't important, to pretend that nothing's wrong even when it is. His need to help others. His fierce love for Andros, whether you think of it as being platonic or romantic. His disregard for rules, like when he ignores Andros' orders or tries to date Astronema. Zhane is a mystery in that he really doesn't tell you much of anything about himself, so you get to come up with the details no one else thinks of. Which is half the fun, of course.

4) Ryan is a character that had a lot of potential but seemed to fall short, so I favor him for the potential he *had*. Granted he was only evil for like, a day. But he was raised by demons. And he left them for the family he didn't even remember. There's a fanfic somewhere ... -Searches- The Way, by walutahanga. It gives a fascinating insight to how Ryan might have thought of things after that, how it may have changed him. You'll never look at him quite the same way after you read it.

As for cannon Ryan, I love his Cobra Tattoo saga, even if again, it could have had way more potential than it got. Again, Ryan's whole concept is dark. Done properly, he could have given people nightmares. Seriously.

-Fights urge to start a Lightspeed Rescue rewrite-

5) And Trent gets an honorable mention, because even if he's technically only the 'fifth' Ranger, he's still a Sixth in spirit. Also in attitude and role within the team. He was awesomely creepy when he was evil, he was *good* at being evil, he tried so hard to be good, he suffered through his evil clone and the whole Shield of Triumph mess without complaint, and he still remained an outsider in the team because Conner, Ethan, and Kira weren't mature enough to truly accept and forgive him, and Tommy wouldn't step up to do it himself. And his greatest mistake, protecting Mesogog's identity, was only because he wanted so badly to keep his father safe, because the other Rangers hadn't given *him* enough reason to trust they'd help him, not hurt him.

Oh, Trent. You never got the respect and appreciation for everything that happened to you that you deserved. (At least in cannon.)
