I like the recognition here that relationships tend not to be simple, and that sometimes they end and it's not the fault of either person. Also that different people want different things. Interesting bit of discussion about Carter and Ryan - realistically, they might find it's not so easy to transition friendship into a romantic relationship.

Relationships are *too* complicated sometimes.

I really struggled to make all those problems evident in this chapter, and show that Carter's relationships *couldn't* be simple. I'm happy to see it noted. ^_^

-Nods- I like the idea of Carter being a bit too simplistic about the idea of changing a relationship, because he hasn't taken the time to truly think it through yet. He's a very 'see it, do it' sort of person, and I don't think he would have really figured on how difficult that sort of thing is.

Having attempted that sort of thing myself, I'm going to try and give him a happier ending than my own relationship got. ^.^;;

I want to hug everyone in this chapter. *laughs* Some people just shouldn't be married and some relationships just don't work out, but it's sad anyway. I hope things get better for Carter... How much have he and Ryan talked about this?
