Text Message Hiring Services? o.O

DUDE!

Okay, I'm probably getting way too excited about this already. But I've never had something like this happen before in all the time I've been job hunting - roughly nine years - so I though I'd mention it in case no one else has heard about it. ... And in case someone else has and I need to be warned about it.

I got a text message on my cellphone this morning, asking me to call an 877 number about a job I had applied for. I was REALLY suspicious about it, because first, I have NEVER gotten *texted* about a job before. Ever. And today being one of the worst holidays ever (Yes, I'm VERY anti-April Fool's, thanks. >.<++), I wasn't sure if it was legit. But, I decided to take a chance and be brave.

Turns out, it IS legit. As far as I can tell so far. -Tries not to worry-

The number gets you an automated message telling you that you've reached a company called Career Network, who does pre-screening for employers. They ask you to hold for one of their representatives. I did, and took the minute I was waiting to search for them online and make sure they do exist - which they do.

A minute later an actual *live* person came on and did her shpeel, which having done survey dialing myself, I let her do because I've been there. She basically verified all my contact and educational information, and made sure I was still interested in the job. And she *specifically* cited one of the companies I really did apply for, which is another reason why I'm not so skeptical now. Once she was done, she promised the next time I heard anything it would be from the hiring manager, and we hung up.

So .... -Tries not to bounce- I'm trying VERY hard not to get too excited about this. Really, I am. And I'm totally failing. ^.^;; But I was reading my book If the Buddha Got Stuck this morning, my Solstice present from the lovely and wonderful purplestripe66, which specifically talks about not supressing your emotions because it's physically unhealthy. So, right now I'm really excited and hopeful and totally crossing every finger, toe, and other extremity I possess. Because, well.

DUDE!
